Still zero rationale for why a two-night campout is inherently more unsafe than a single night to the level which necessitates its prohibition.
Pure speculation on rationale : 2 nights require a lot of resources that a number of packs would not be prepared to host. Cost of the events increase significantly for the 2nd night (putting a strain on CS parents). 2 nights is an exhausting pace and fatigue leads to accidents. Dont want competition with our own camps. National might have seen pattern in reported injuries and correlated to two night stays. Our program is "progressive" in advancement ( 1 night for CS and more for BS). NCAP kicks in and requires significant planning to comply (Units not prepared whereas Camps are (or at least should be).
Seven potential reasons......

The difference seems to be in Unit camping on their own and not on council property - limited to one night.
Council camp with program provided then 2 nights is ok.

If "overnight" only means one night, then why is the definition of a Webelos Scout Overnight defined as "Webelos Scout overnighter
A one- or two-night campout by Webelos Scouts and their parent or guardian."https://www.scouting.org/resources/los/
Cause you can camp at a Council camp with their provided program covered under NCAP

Your past post over the years say you do think you know why.
Do your research ShootingSports, I did a lot of membership research in the past that often enlightsens and corrects the forum list. Good data is worth its weight in gold because it gives you direction for your program.
Barry
I have done research, but my conjectures in the past have been based on speculation. However, I still looking for the pot of gold, someone else has mined.
I was truly taken aback that our National organization does not have this data readily available.

So, in our area we have a 0.9% market share of total available youth. That leaves 99.1% not in scouting.
Does anyone have survey data on what this 99% are doing with their time and their kids?
Not looking for personal stories, I am looking for true survey data that has demographics, economic, social, and interests data.
Anyone???? (Yes I asked at National)

Had several meetings this week about what is going on in Scouting. . Apparently I am spreading rumors since I keep up with the bankruptcy , state what is being told in court (via this site and others), and ask questions that the PTB either do not want to answer, or do not know the answer because they are not informed.
I asked about council mergers since BSA plans to downsize the number. Answer is council mergers wont be happening if goals are met. I asked about why we are investing in a camp, when the merger possibility exists and the camp will get sold. Told again no mergers are going to happen if goals are met. Asked about when the changes to YPT will occur, and was told I am spreading rumors.
Sad thing is I find out more here and on other sites, than I do from my council.
Same here for getting info. Better hear than my BOD. and thank you Eagle94-A1 for your work on this here.

Heard somewhere "Change Happens" and you need to roll with the flow. My favorite is "Do you want the windows of the Church broken from the inside or the outside?" Our personal uniforming can be a reflection of the ideal. However, I want "them" at the meeting, so at least the see the ideal. Just a thought.

Life should be a rainbow. A wide spectrum of variety that motivates each individual.
In 25 years plus, I have worked from the den level all the way up to National committee. What I like to do is find out what motivates any given individual, and get it for them. If you love patches, I will find you patches. If you love pins, I will find you pins. You love being recognized by your peers, then Ill make that happen. Have uniforms with knots, pins, etc. I have uniform with nothing on it.
I just want people in our organization and I want them motivated to do their best. Give back, and be happy. I have shut down my fair share of uniform police. Also, it is not just about the youth. Without the adults involved, the program would suffer greatly. Its about everyone having fun.........

Net means revenue less expenses. So, profit (or loss in this case). You would have to know the expenses charged to really know. Was the Development personnel salary included? How about the SE? Did your camp charge for use of its facility separately? Any allocation of operating overhead to support (which might have to get paid even if you didn't have event?)
Worth asking about though if they are not profitable and costing cash.......

1. No. MBC are registered as Code 42 or 42F (required to pay fee). The District Dean of MB will OK the skill sets required and approve the MBC (hence District involvement). The MBC has the option to list as "Troop Only" or willing to accept any scout.
2. No. They are generally all listed on a district wide available list. However, as noted they have option to be their Troop only
3. Answered above.

So, it appears that National is eliminating certain sub-committees for specific outdoor programs. Why in the world would you shut down successful teams that support local councils in the delivery of our core programs? This is not an issue of a professional being let go, but telling volunteers they are no longer to offer support in your area. Isn't outdoor program the core of what we do?
Do units support the council, or council supports the units?

One of the best quotes I have provided any volunteer in our organization. "If your not happy, pick up your toys and play in another area". I have told youth, leaders and professionals this. Discouragement is tough to deal with, not matter where in BSA. I try to tell myself, all scouting happens only at the unit level (and all units are run by volunteers)
