I was in a dysfunctional pack when my son was a tiger. I at first though it was lack of support form the parents. I was complaining and thinking of leaving the pack. I started to watch the leader training and a few videos and then read the scout oath and cam to the conclusion that I should try to help instead of just complaining I want a good program for my son so I stepped up became a den leader and had a great time. I started to work with the CC and tried to make thing better giving her tips on how to do stuff started planning stuff and the CC would just move right alone and do what she w

Has anybody gone through the process of getting there Den Leaders Knots I have the paper work have it singed by the CC and the CM and I need one more signature and I can not find the person who so supposed to do that and then what to do with the form !!!! I emailed my DE and he told to contact somebody else and they did not have a clue !

I am an IT guy buy trade I got and temporary account on scout book to look around and see what it was about. when I went to cub collage they told me that YPT needed to be done annually also but DE told me no !! they were saying that because if your YPT expires around recharter depending on when they get to your paper work it could be kicked back. As for yearly being a burden on leadership man it is and video and little test you can take it in your underwear if you want. I have always wanted BSA to allow the pack to hold YPT classes were you showed the video gave the test and mailed in information back to BSA that way you just knocked everybody out at once and did not have to chase people down. I have made arrangements for my scouts to meet a real navy seal and I want to work with the boys before hand to get a bunch or good questions. Last year with my Weblos I had a sort of scout masters conference with them and there parent (YP) my assistant den-leader as running an activity and I pulled them in and talked to them about the requirements scout oath law extra point out stuff on the uniform they all did really well and most of the parents sat there and stared at there phones (the way I like it) and I would mark there book and my paper work to update out online tracking system the scouts really seemed to enjoy the meeting and the one on one time. When I was in high it was a boarding school they had and outdoor eduction program scouts with out the book and it would take any boy regardless of age 7th grade on up and we would hike mountains and miles not sure of the mile count but a lot and the younger ones held up just fine. Of course the instructor ran our little butts off 5 days a week to prepare of the trip. No scouting is not for every boy and girl there are other opportunities out there for them to learn the same skills. My son on the other hand needs to be in scouts he is High Functioning Autistic and it really helps him to meet other kids and play with other kids. The scouting promise and values help the leadership of the pack to reinforce why they should not make fun of him or tease him and try to include him.
