One simple question can spark the conversation....."Why aren't the boys boy lead" then sit back and listen. If its not boy lead its NOT Boy Scouts.

Thanks for the heads up, mine came in the other day but I haven't had the chance to flip its pages yet.

I resigned my position as a result of the 2013 and 2015 membership changes and will become an ASM. I was also asked to head up a Venture crew which I accepted. However, if this change happens I will resign my ASM slot and focus on Venturing.
I cannot support a program I do not fully believe in or support. Some might not be able to understand how I can support Venturing but not Boy Scouts. Simply put Venturing is supposed to be coed and I fully support its mission. Boy Scouts is supposed to be single sex, use the patrol method and allow boys to develop. If that is no longer the mission of Boy Scouts, I won't support that program.
Boy Scouts continues to be the whipping boy of the left. It seems to keep apologizing for being who they are. After a while you get tired of constantly having to change to appease others who really have no intention of becoming part of your organization OR helping to make it a better place. They simple what you to change because they don't like what you stand for.
There's a great quote from a character named "Fletcher" in the movie Outlaw Josey Wales which is quite appropriate here. Pretty much sums up how I feel about what BSA and good ol' Mike is trying to sell us here.
I do agree with everything you said. I am ok with the Cub Scout Change, I would hope they'd leave Boy Scout alone. Venturing they can join.

I've got my resignation all set to turn in to my CO...the moment BSA makes it official. I will resign from Boy Scouts but will stay with Venturing...unless they screw that up too.
Why wouldn't you wait to see the Interest level? You know I thought the same with the "gay" results, but you know to date I still haven't had a gay boy ask to join.

Isn't Trail Life a choice? The BSA is far from the only single-sex scouting program.
Yes but they are Far and Few between. For example there is one 45 min from me in Southaven MS, for them to make an impact there would need to be more breaking from BSA and staring up a TL. On a side note (not that anything is wrong with it) it really seems more Religious Based than scout ever was. JMO

For anyone taking the survey without having watched the video AND participated in a council-level discussion, please keep in mind that you are missing a LOT of the context.
Correct, we are having a Council Level discussion this week regarding the matter.

Trying to find the "official" statement
I have a scout that has Family Life, Personal Management, and Personal Fitness to wrap up. He wasn't to begin his Eagle Process and talk with District Eagle Board Councilor. Coucilor told mom that he cant begin the process until his MB are complete so mom went to a fact or fiction site and it stated "Statement" A scout must complete all merit badges before starting his Eagle Project" Result " Absolutely not, A scout may start an Eagle Project he day he Achieves the rank of Life Scout.
thanks

and, yes, he was not a huge fan of the food...
What's up with the Food? that was the second complaint I heard.

This is the only reason that my son and myself might not go to 2019, all I keep hearing is Patch Trading. My son (12) hasn't been bitten yet by the trading bug, he still loves the adventures so he wants to do Northern Tier in lieu of Jambo 2019.

There absolutely is. It's called the Spirit of the Eagle Award:

While I mourn with you and your troop the loss of this young man, I trust the experience will enrich your lives as you contemplate the blessings you were able to enjoy through that young Scout during his tenure with you. All my love and prayers to the boy's family.
YES
We had a young man pass away late last year and this is what we did

KKSR as in Kia Kima, yeah?
Correct. Chickasaw Council has 2 top notched camping areas, I feel privileged because I know some only have 1.

The best Jambo guest speakers are the ones who can be motivational, inspirational, and relatable. Trump was none of those things tonight. He just used this as yet another tour stop to brag about his win in November.
Yes, Trump left a lot to be desired. He had a podium and an opportunity to raise these young men and women up to tell them to reach for the stars and they are tomorrows great leaders.
Fell flat on his face.

Related to the background of the photo: Hey, Texans. Is there anything in your state's code about using your flag for capes?
You know Qwazse they are a Breed of their Own. Do you know they have their very own pledge of allegiance to the state of Texas?

@@JasonG172, are you on the Buffalo River?
No this is at Camp Currier right outside of Hernando Mississippi. We have a small lake that has LOTS of fish in it because boys don't fish much anymore these days.
Check us out on FB (Camp Currier) . We have a great local camp as well as KKSR in Hardy Arkansas.

Back Story
have been fishing since I was a very young man, dad and I would wake at 3 in the morning and head out to the lake. I starting buying bait when I started earning my own money and I'd by bass jigs and everything bass related. Dad would throw his line near the banks for Brim and Crappie and I would throw mine way out in the middle of the lake because you know "Only Big fish are out in the middle of the lake". Never have I pulled one out of the water! I know there wasn't any real skill involved in this catch, just the right place at the right time but it made me extremely proud. Oh and another young man got to complete his Fishing Merit Badge because my son gave it to him to clean so I talked him through it and he cooked it up.
This was at Camp this weekend....we had an insane idea to camp this past weekend with temps up in the 105 -110 heat index.
Oh yea and I am only holding his Trophy because he said "I am not putting my thumb in his mouth so he can bite me" I laughed

Never had issues with my Primus (19.99) or my Jetoil (99.99) grated they are both slightly bigger than the whisper lite but they are dependable.
