  1.

I resigned my position as a result of the 2013 and 2015 membership changes and will become an ASM. I was also asked to head up a Venture crew which I accepted. However, if this change happens I will resign my ASM slot and focus on Venturing.

I cannot support a program I do not fully believe in or support. Some might not be able to understand how I can support Venturing but not Boy Scouts. Simply put Venturing is supposed to be coed and I fully support its mission. Boy Scouts is supposed to be single sex, use the patrol method and allow boys to develop. If that is no longer the mission of Boy Scouts, I won't support that program.

Boy Scouts continues to be the whipping boy of the left. It seems to keep apologizing for being who they are. After a while you get tired of constantly having to change to appease others who really have no intention of becoming part of your organization OR helping to make it a better place. They simple what you to change because they don't like what you stand for.

There's a great quote from a character named "Fletcher" in the movie Outlaw Josey Wales which is quite appropriate here. Pretty much sums up how I feel about what BSA and good ol' Mike is trying to sell us here.

I do agree with everything you said.  I am ok with the Cub Scout Change, I would hope they'd leave Boy Scout alone.  Venturing they can join.

I've got my resignation all set to turn in to my CO...the moment BSA makes it official. I will resign from Boy Scouts but will stay with Venturing...unless they screw that up too.

Why wouldn't you wait to see the Interest level?  You know I thought the same with the "gay" results, but you know to date I still haven't had a gay boy ask to join.

  3. Isn't Trail Life a choice?  The BSA is far from the only single-sex scouting program.

Yes but they are Far and Few between.  For example there is one 45 min from me in Southaven MS, for them to make an impact there would need to be more breaking from BSA and staring up a TL.  On a side note (not that anything is wrong with it) it really seems more Religious Based than scout ever was.  JMO

  4. Trying to find the "official" statement

I have a scout that has Family Life, Personal Management, and Personal Fitness to wrap up.  He wasn't to begin his Eagle Process and talk with District Eagle Board Councilor.  Coucilor told mom that he cant begin the process until his MB are complete so mom went to a fact or fiction site and it stated "Statement" A scout must complete all merit badges before starting his Eagle Project" Result " Absolutely not, A scout may start an Eagle Project he day he Achieves the rank of Life Scout.

    thanks

  5. There absolutely is. It's called the Spirit of the Eagle Award:

While I mourn with you and your troop the loss of this young man, I trust the experience will enrich your lives as you contemplate the blessings you were able to enjoy through that young Scout during his tenure with you. All my love and prayers to the boy's family.

    YES

We had a young man pass away late last year and this is what we did

  6. The best Jambo guest speakers are the ones who can be motivational, inspirational, and relatable. Trump was none of those things tonight. He just used this as yet another tour stop to brag about his win in November.

Yes, Trump left a lot to be desired.  He had a podium and an opportunity to raise these young men and women up to tell them to reach for the stars and they are tomorrows great leaders.

    Fell flat on his face.
