Yes, I saw that in G2SS but it sounds like it is specific to overnight camping, which we won't be doing. This is where I am a bit confused since it does not mention day trips.

I want to take my Webelos I den to our district camporee(no overnight, just day trip).

Does each scout need a parent with them OR can myself an 1-2 other parents take the den ourselves. There will be about 6 webelos, myself and 2 adults.

I think we are all in the same boat at this point.

I keep checking everyday and keep my fingers crossed.

I can assume from the answer that I can forgo working on Cub Scout/Webelos Den Leader Award and focus on the Cub Scouter Award.

I am currently a Wolf Den leader and will taking over the Pack Committee Chair role in the Feb '08 when our current PCC bridges to the troop.

Even though I will be Pack Committee Chair, I will continue to be a Bear & Webelos Den Leader.

Do I have to be on the Pack Roster as the Pack Committee Chair or can I continue to be a Den Leader? I assume you can NOT be both on the Pack roster.

OK, here's a follow up question.

Example:

For a scouter who is both registerd in a Pack(Den Leader) and a Troop(ASM) at the same time.

Was just awarded his Cub Scout Den Leader award knot.

Can he now wear that on both uniforms?

What are the guidelines for former CS Leaders wearing their CS leader knots on their uniforms once they become BS leaders? They are keeping the same uniform and just change unit numerals and shoulder loops.

Is it considered the "official" BSA jac shirt which is subject to the rules & regulations of patch selection and placement?

Thanks, that's the information I was looking for.

Are you required to take Leader Specific Training for your your specific postion every time you you change postions?

For example, I took Leader Specific for Tiger Cub Leaders. Now that I'm a Cub Scout Den Leader(Wolf) do I have to take the Leader Specif Training for Cub Scout Leader and then again when I become a Webelos Den Leader?

I have worn the new scout pants twice and here is what I don't like. I wear about a 28" inseam, the new pants come in a 30" inseam and the leg slips down under my boot. Maybe some velcro or elastic around the bottom.

The belt is a waste of time.

My Troop is planning a May, 2007 trip to the Freedom Trail in Boston.

This is our annual Troop family campout so we will have parents and siblings with us.(Last year we went to Gettysburg...what a blast!)

Looking for any advice & guidance on the following and any other information you can provide:

1. Where to camp? I see that there is a BSA camp in Milton, MA(Camp Sayre) which is about 10 mintues to a T stop.

2. How long to complete the Freedom Trail in order to qualify for the Freedom Trail Patch?

Im a Den leader assisting the Cubmaster & Pack Committee Chair(both of whom are new in their positions)in setting some guidelines & policies for our Pack on an ongoing basis.

As a side note, I will probably assume the role of Pack Committee Chair in 2 years when the current chairs son bridges to Boy Scouts. I am also an Assistant Scoutmaster with my other sons troop and the troop policies on these items are followed to the letter.

Im interested in hearing from other packs what they are doing and to ensure we are following proper BSA guidelines for Cub Scouts.

Our pack currently does not require scouts or parents to complete a Class 1 medical form. The only time medical forms are required is for district events or council events, like day camp or resident camp.

I am thinking we should require each scout in our pack to submit a completed Class 1 medical for our pack records and have also give copies to the den leaders for their records. I am also thinking that we should have parents do the same, especially since they also attend den meetings, pack events and pack overnighters.

Our pack does not require an Informed Consent Agreement or Permission Slip for any Den or Pack outing. This includes all one day activities and overnighters. The thought has always been that since a parent is accompanying the scout that it is not required. Im thinking we should definitely require an Informed Consent Agreement or Permission Slip for all pack overnighters. Not sure what to do about Den outings.

For Tour Permit Applications, we do not collect driver information (make, model, insurance, etc.) since scouts are usually driven by their parents to the outings. Should we collect from all parent drivers the required information and just keep it on file? For Den outings, whether its at the local firehouse or hiking trail, we are not filing Tour Permits. Not sure whether we should or not.

Any input or feedback is appreciated.

Do requirements for Academics & Sports Pins have to be completed while the scout is the same rank? For example, can a scout begin some of the requirements while he is a Wolf and complete the remaining requirements while he is a Bear?

I have several adult partners that have submitted over 100 completed electives for their tigers. Is the an offical limit to the number of yellow elective beads that tigers can earn?

Ah, the reading elective #14...that's the one!

In our school district, 1st graders are required to read a book every night & 1 on the weekends. Many of the scouts read with their parents/partners and are counting that toward elective #14.

I don't want to discourage them from reading...but I also don't want it to turn into "which scout can collect the most yellow elective beads"

Just informed that a new Tiger scout will be joing my den.

My Den has just earned their Tiger rank and are starting working toward Bobcat.

His first Den meeting will be in March which leaves only 3-4 months to work on

rank advancement.

Questions is...what should he be working on? Bobcat? Tiger? Both?

My feeling is to have him skip working on his Tiger and work on Bobcat with the

rest of the Den.

Since September, only 1 scout has missed a Go See It...a visit to the fire house. I just want to be prepared with answers to the questions when they come from the parents.

As far as picture, I have taken pictures at almost every Pack & Den event...plan on making a photo album for the boys to look at at the end of the year and when they become Boy Scouts.
