Crew 21 is correct, I looked at the certificate online under My Scouting and it does have an expiration date of 2 years. My advice would be to just ask the ASM to go online and spend ten minutes redoing it and turn in a new certificate. The whole thing doesn't seem worth fighting about when it can be so easily corrected. I also was unable to find anything other than already stated for it to be mandatory but our Troop, Crew, and Pack all require it for all registered leaders.

Hey Gern, My Venturing scout daughter wants to know who Wings is.

The headline tornado hits scout camp just made my heart stop. My oldest son and my younger brother are both at camp this week. The relief you feel after seeing that it wasn't here but in another state almost makes you feel guilty. My families prayers and wishes go out to the families of the scouts that died in the storm and hopes for full recoveries go out to those injured.

I believe that what they are referring to is the Weather Hazards course under the E-Learning section of My Scouting, on the National Website. When you take the course the top of it says, Planning And Preparing For Hazardous Weather. It is under the general tab in the online training area.(This message has been edited by talen333)

Fill out the dues form with as much information as you can and pay your dues to the local lodge. I had the same issues having been a youth member of Topa Topa Lodge in Ventura Ca. Once you fill out the forms and pay your dues should not be a problem. You need to be registered with the Atlanta council as well or you can't register with the lodge. Make sure you put your BSA number on your dues form and they will add that to your records.

I found the following on the Veteran Affairs website, When the U.S. flag is used to cover a casket, it should be so placed that the union is at the head and over the left shoulder. The flag should not be lowered into the grave or allowed to touch the ground. When viewed from the foot of the casket the blue field would be to the viewers right. This is my only guess as to where this comes from as I was unable to find anything else where the flag would be with the union on the right.

When I read the original posting my impression was that Troy had learned how to get merit badges signed off but had missed all the core values of scouting. I just took Baloo training along with one other leader from our pack. When we went we were the only two in uniform other than the instructors. We were both surprised but I still think it was the right way to dress. The only time I go to a scout event and do not wear the uniform is camping with the pack and committee meetings. I for sure would always wear it to any district event or training. Y.I.S. Talen

I agree that I am willing to pay a premium for a quality shirt made in the United States but the scout shirts are way overpriced for a comparable shirt. Then they start making them in China. Where does the extra thirty or so dollars go? These shirts wouldn't be more than ten bucks at the Walmart.

I have to agree that from my experience of having a teen girl the Girl Scout image really needs an update. The girls may have fun but they are not actively promoting it once they get to the older ages. I have two sons in scouts and when we talked to my daughter about joining Girl Scouts she had what seems to be the typical response of older girls and said it was not current enough with what she wanted to be doing. She then went and joined the Venture Crew that is linked to her brothers troop.

Hey All, I just bought 2 new shirts, 1 was cotton-poly blend the other was 100% cotton. The blend was made in china and the cotton was made here. I don't know if I just got an old made in the U.S.A. or if they are mixing it up and using multiple vendors for different types of clothing.

We sell pinestraw, delivered to their door. Free carwashes also work where you get sponsors of so much per car washed. People almost always give the scouts money for their free wash, so you make money both ways. Good Luck

I looked on the website for national in the F.A.Q. section. If I am reading this right anyone over 18 is an adult for sleeping purposes and a youth for activity and voting until they are 21. Q: What is the cutoff age for youths and adults in OA Activities? A: For Order of the Arrow participation (events, elections, etc.), a youth is anyone under age 21. Adults are those 21 or older. This holds true for everything except housing status at events, where adults are defined as 18 and older (see more below). Note that this does NOT change the BSA youth protection policies, which defi
