  1. Our troop has a no electronics policy in place. They are a distraction on campouts ( and in weekly meetings) and can allow individuals to access what ever they want to see or hear on the internet in some areas (camp, rest areas, ect). It could effectively tear down any youth protection that was in place and ultimately distracts from the purposes that they are out camping in the first place.

  3. Another avenue to consider is to approach a business and talk with the business manager, or the CEO or whoever gets to spend the money. Suggest to them the possiblities of employee rewards using popcorn they buy from your troop/pack/team/ and apply them to safety award programs, employee holiday bonuses (Like the large popcorn tin), performance incentives, ect. Depending on the size of the business, you could fund your entire summer event, or buy new equipment just on one sale.

  4. When I worked with a troop in Oklahoma , We went to Camp Nile Montgomery in Arkansas. It was a pretty nice camp, the dining hall was new and had AC, and they had a great program. One feature I liked was that during the nighly leader meetings, you also met with the staff who had progress sheets on every boy they were working with. You could catch up with a boy who might have been skipping out or not paying attention and then help correct that problem,
