  1. Someone should definitely tell her that the way she is wearing the shirt is improper. Wouldn't someone correct a Scout who had his shirt on that way? On the Uniform inspection sheet for Female Leaders, the picture shows all 3 women with shirts buttoned up (except of course the very top one). Female Cub Scout leaders can wear either the yellow or tan shirt. Female Boy Scout leaders must wear the tan shirt. Again, this info is taken directly from the uniform inspection sheet.

I was a Webelos Den Leader (my son is in Boy Scouting now, YAY!). I wore the tan shirt and khaki pants, with the WDL scarf, neckerchief, and hat. I'm not exactly a petite woman by any means and needless to say, the uniform did not make me feel comfortable. However, to set a good example, I endured. All Scouting women know that the uniform is not made for us.

Lisabob hit the nail on the head - I felt like a tent wearing the man's shirt. But I wore it proudly - and buttoned up. She should wear the uniform properly or not at all.

  2. My son is Webelos II this year. I went to Walmart and got wolf print fleece (his dens is "Running Wolves") and "Cub Scout" solid blue fleece. I fringed the edges and tacked his patches on the solid blue fleece. Send me a PM with your email if you would like pictures.

  3. I heard this idea at Pow Wow 2005: Make a fleece blanket. I took it a step further and got 2 pieces of fleece. One is the cub scout plain blue and the other is a print of the den name. My boys chose "Running Wolves" so I got this wonderful pattern at Walmart. I'm making the blanket via the no-sew method which you can find online. I'm putting the patches on the plain blue side via fabric glue. You can get letters for personalization (recommended) from Walmart too. When you are done, you have a functional blanket that your BOY Scout can use on camping trips and still show off his past achievements. I should be finished the blanket by the end of the week. I'll be glad to email pictures.

  4. It's my understand (and I'm sure I've read it in official material) that Webelos scouts are DENS not PATROLS. I'm the Webelos DEN leader of DEN 6 and the name of the den is "Running Wolves". When they graduate to the the Troop, the name of the den will become the name of the patrol.

  5. I don't require my boys to wear full uniform at every den meeting but it is required at the pack meeting. They have a choice for the den meeting: either wear the full uniform (Class A) or any cub scout t-shirt and jeans (Class B). Our pack has a T-shirt contest every year and the winner gets his picture reproduced on a T-shirt that becomes the pack's class B uniform.
