  1. Don't forget, newsletters can count too. Find someone that writes a newsletter for a local church or organization. Visit with them to see how they create the newsletter and what information they are trying to communicate.

You can follow the outing with a den activity where the scouts each make a single page newsletter.

  2. This is my first year back in scouts since I was a kid. I am curious to know what other packs do at their Blue&Gold dinner.

My son's pack is using the Blue and Gold this month as a vehicle for awarding all scouts their rank awards. The Sr.Webelos will apparently cross-over to Boy Scouts, the tigers will receive their tiger badges, wolves the wolf badge, etc... The scouts will not start working on the next rank till after June, so the next 3-4 months will be spent working on electives.

    What do you do?

  3. As others have said, it is not punitive to assign jobs to missing leaders/dens. With registration to your pack, each scout takes an oath to help the pack go. If they don't all do their part, it is impossible for the pack to help the scouts grow.

Don't feel guilty. You and the CM should join forces and lead on with great pride. Set the example and demand (politely of course) assistance.

Most parents want to help. They want their scout to be part of a great program. They just don't know how to help or when to help.
