  1. Hearing Info for Wednesday, Docket 1113. Hearing essentially addresses substantial claim request for the Coalition and the effort to provide "startup" funds for the Trust. The startup funds would help demonstrate to the Circuit that work is underway. Interestingly, the BSA now is not a "movant." Disappointing but perhaps an attempt by the debtor not to seem too presumptuous to the Circuit. Fingers crossed Silverstein allows it. After years of waiting ANY effort to get some work done in a more timely manner would be a nice change. NOTICE OF AGENDA OF MATTERS SCHEDULED FOR HEAR

  3. Basically anytime the patrol name is called out is when the patrol yell should be used. For example: when the SPL calls on a PL he should also tack on the patrol name ; and then the patrol would yell whatever they're yell is. It would be an esprits de corps moment that also could just be fellowship/horsing around. Think a scenario like the following: SPL: "PL John Smith from the Rocket Patrol is going to lead todays rank advancement and teach the square knot." Rocket Patrol: "To the moon!" When the esprit de corps gets built up in the troop you will have some slightly rude moments a

  4. Enforce the Parent Partner Rule for Lions and Tigers; you will find your replacement in one or two of those parent partners. Cut everything that someone "tacked" on to a role and recruit people to do just the job description of a position from the cub scout leader guide; don't let "the way we always did it" or "historically" restrict your packs function and form. Encourage round table and leader training for everyone. Use leader awards, they are there for a reason, and people do appreciate them.

  5. NBC News: Long accused of Indigenous misappropriation, Boy Scouts ask if it’s time to change In a recent email survey taken by 35,000 current and former members, the national organization asked a broad range of questions about what changes — if any — should be made to its usage and portrayal of Native American imagery, ceremonies and rituals. ...The survey’s results (from 20 questions) are not yet available but will be released publicly when they are, a spokesman for the organization said in a statement. ...Despite the range of the survey’s possible answers, the organization sa

  6. If they don't have a yell, then they are not a patrol. It is part of the Patrol Method. Scout Handbook, page 26: "Patrols have yells, too. If your patrol is named for an animal, you can use that animal's sound - the howl of a wolf, for example, or the hoot of an howl. Or your patrol might decide on some other shout that identifies it. Members can give the patrol yell whenever they do well in a troop competition or reach an important goal, and even when they're ready to chow down on a camp meal." 7. Yes, National and Councils will not advertise competition. heck I am surprised https://www.highadventurescouting.com/council.html exists because it is in direct competition with with the 4 national HA bases. Back in the day, the International Division could help out with International Letters of introduction, national Scout organization info, and restricted international swag, i.e. BSA international neckerchiefs, jacket, slides, and if you earned it World Crest (pre-1990), International Activity Badge, International Youth Exchange Badge, or the current International Spirit Award. 8. Chances National wants to advertise something that compete to their own programs? Zero. Many councils operate HA camps. You might check out this link: https://www.highadventurescouting.com/council.html

  9. Congratulations. I have felt the Cubmaster position is like the cheerleader of the Pack. Bring a lot of energy and make it fun! You set the example for the Pack, for better or worse. I found Roundtables to be informative, at least for networking with other leaders. Share ideas, find out what works, what doesn't, etc. Our Pack committee is active. Our unit rebuilt it specifically after COVID so that workload could be shared amongst many; so not all of the jobs fall under Cubmaster and Committee Chair. I find we get better attendance at virtual meetings, but in-person meetings are more engaging.

Scouts in chairs, "assume LOUNGE position", no neckers, shorts of every color, Scout Uni shirt buttoned crooked, untucked, might remember the Scout Promise, Conservation Pledge, Scout Law.... Flag ceremony? How many stars on the flag? True story from at least now sixteen years ago::: My son chose to join the Troop of my yooth. They still were very active, outdoorsy Troop, he did well, served in all the Leadership positions.... Made Eagle.... 11. They should be a part of every roll call — be it meeting or activity. Our troop is finding it really hard to inculcate in our scouts. That’s partly because we present colors very first, and so many scouts are still drifting in. I would rather scouts have a 10-15 minute activity before gathering for colors. But, institutional inertia is harder to correct than the course of the Queen Mary.

  12. The yells can be used whenever a troop assembles. I've seen it routinely as mentioned above and to hold roll call. At opening campfires, flagraising gatherings, anytime you need the scouts to settle down and get their attention. At Woodbadge after flag call, pawe always asked if there were any... and they responded with their patrol critter's yell.

  14. That website assumed ALL claims were credible and would be pursued. That article is the opinion of one attorney who from my observations has little to nothing to do with this bankruptcy. It reads at best like someone who scanned the DC opinion and just rehashed it. Ultimately, payments will come down to two things, the numerator and denominator. We know part of the numerator now, 2.6B. Additional monies will come through insurance settlements and litigation against non-settling insurers. The denominator will be determined by how many Survivors complete the questionnaire and have credible
