  1. No, and this is supposed to be discussed at the Town Hall tonight. The Effective Date is when Judge Silverstein rules that everything is in place and the Trust may do its work completely. It's a "legal ruling." and what the objectors are trying to stop right now. BSA is trying to get the Effective Date work done by 4/12 according to one attorney's email. Fun fact....if a Trust goes effective and THEN a higher court rules that some portion of bankruptcy law should be interpreted a different way it does NOT impact the existing Trust. You can't "unscramble" the egg. So....everything right n

  2. Welcome to the forum!! Teach them... 😜 Some notes that will definitely raise some hackles around here... enjoy the discussion. 1. You can select meats that have lower fat content, or all already cooked, and therefore produce less grease. They are more expensive. Think 93% lean ground beef instead of 85% lean. Think brown and serve sausage patties or links. (Once they master these, they can move on to raw meats...) Or, here's a wild idea... teach them about tofu!! 2. For their first few trips, recommend you avoid the dreaded three... pancakes, bacon, and scrambled

  3. This must depend on the families in the troop, because that is absolutely not what happens at our house 😱 Shouldn't we model and teach good, healthy food?

  5. I was fortunate to have a dad who had been a timber cruiser in his younger days, and a mom who was all in favor of having me "assist" in the kitchen when I was old enough. Sunday mornings were my dad's time. He made the pancakes, bacon, scrambled the eggs. Mom was a roast beef, chicken, baked potatoe and salad person. I went off to summer camp (non Scout) once with my number one cousin, and was astounded at his lack of eating variety. He darn near starved to death those weeks,,,, My Troop was an outdoor Troop first and last. We were fortunate to have some families with wooded proper

  6. A lot of good advice already. Boy did you ask for it. And I'm gunna ruffle feathers too. 1. Keep it at the patrol level. Every scout should be able to do it and maybe check off some advancement needs. 2. Avoid troop cooking where the adults helicopter the whole time. 3. Teach them to actually cook from basic ingredients. Adults should not handle a utensil, unless preparing their own food. 4. Have the adults on the same budget or ingredients and show what is possible. 5. Eggs? Omelets in a bag are quick, easy clean up, and cater to each scout. 6. Plan

For a period of up to twelve (12) months from the Effective Date, and by an election exercised at the time of the Trust Claim Submission, Direct Abuse Claimants whose Direct Abuse Claims may be substantially reduced by the Scaling Factor described below in Article VIII.E.(iii) (statute of limitations defense) may elect to defer the determination of their Proposed Allowed Claim Amounts to see if statute of limitations revival legislation occurs, provided, however, that this claim determination deferral window shall close for all Direct Abuse Claim

  9. Who told you this? One person or multiple? SM or other? Do other parents/leaders in the Troop feel as you do?

  10. Talk to the CoR, move to replace the SM unless he chooses to deliver the program as intended. The lack of discipline causes inherent risk, and -- as the boys are realizing -- erodes at the fun youth should be having. It's possible that the adults don't want to shape up, and the CoR is enabling. Take a load off you shoulders, turn in the CC patch and direct your attention to a troop whose members are trying to be scout-like. In this case, it sounds like that's the girls troop. I had to stop advising my crew because the majority of boys in it were not maintaining personal discipli

  11. Respectfully disagree... Scoutbook has more functionality now than when it was free. I used it extensively then, and use it extensively now. It runs even better with the Scoutbook Feature Assistant add-on (which Gary Feutz keeps up) from the Goggle Play Store. I do agree that Scoutbook support by BSA is sorely lacking. It is mostly volunteers (Scoutbook User Advisory Council) who assist with day to day problems. BSA definitely lost a LOT of credibility in my book when they dumped user support, and expected the Registrars to answer peoples questions about Scoutbook (with no trainin

  12. Different people are look for different things in a troop. I like the idea that the scoutmaster is comfortable staying at camp as the scouts go thru rotations. The idea is the scouts have their experience. They should NOT be followed around by adults. That's cub scouts. ... But, that's my opinion. Also, if they don't earn the advancement or win the camporee, that's fine. That was THEIR choice. Flip side is bad behavior in scouts is hard to change. Cussing. Swearing. Bad attitude. Bad behavior. ... Sometimes that only changes over time. Sometimes it only changes with a new

  14. Re-reading your question made me realize it can be asking from many different directions ... For the duration of an Eagle Service Project. For their whole rank. Or, someone who serves the troop working with each Life scout to make sure they have a plan to earn Eagle. Or, someone sitting on the troop committee who works a plan to get as many scouts to earn Eagle as possible. ================================================= But per a simple reading ... our troop lets the scouts work with any of the registered leaders as a coach or advisor (for the whole rank or for the project) ... or
