  1. Update Feb 1, 2023. Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation raised funds to purchase camp. Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (INHF) is the buyer. $7M plus People throughout Iowa and Nebraska contributed to a fund to help make $2.8 million in repairs to the camp after a tornado ripped through in June 2008... "In working on the sale with the council, INHF has agreed to do three things: Open the property to the public; maintain the memorial to four boys that died in a 2008 tornado on the property; and honor and share the history of LSSR as a scout camp," the organization said. 2. No, 2000 was when they required parents attend and have meetings every week. Lions was somewhere around 15 years later when National was also adding other clueless program modifications like adding Leadership as a 4th Method when it was already part of the 8 Aims. Barry

  6. If the registrar likes you, you will have no problems with recharter 😜 Want to get the registrar to like you? Complete your paperwork properly, file it in a timely manner, and have sufficient funds to cover registrations... Pretty simple recipe.

  7. This is key. Keep this correct as you go along, and recharter should almost be a non-event.

  8. I left out that until these activity logs improve, we have our advancement coordinator make it for the troop. The Scribe, SPL, or ASPL does take attendance in Scoutbook. The advancement coordinator uses that to log nights camped.

  9. Agreed. That is the primary resource for the Scouts. Scoutbook is the primary tracking tool we adults use, as it provides much more utility.

  10. The USDOJ brings the people's elbow (The Rock reference) to the Roman Catholic Church Ad Hoc, Coalition and Pfau request for payment. Easy read. Basically tells them they should pound sand. I have a hard time seeing the judge disagree with the DOJ. I expect a hard rebuke... Perhaps that is hope talking. https://casedocs.omniagentsolutions.com/cmsvol2/pub_47373/95089527-7d85-4e92-b5ac-57f1c41f9158_10944.pdf

  11. It seems odd they only allow this for a religious purpose. It seems like that could be targeted by lawsuits ... like the state is establishing a religion by pushing non-religious institutions with taxes they don't apply to religious ones. Plus, it isn't just religious institutions ... it is that + museums. In my state, yes, churches don't pay but most other non profit organizations don't have to pay property tax. They don't just separate out museums + churches. The fix is even more odd. Why not other youth organizations? Why not other non-profit organizations? I'm glad I don't
