  1. Back to one of my favorite thoughts. Balanced and well written. It seems to reflect somewhat accurately the realities of the time it occurred, and the responses of various individuals. And, while BSA is noted, as is the Catholic Church, they did not turn the article into a verbal lynching of them. It accurately notes that at the time, too many societal responses and ideas were not in accord with what is better known. At the same time, it also does not blame the camp, but rather the perpetrator and cutltural attitudes. I have to wonder if the camp was not a small, mostly well respec

  2. I do wish everyone on both sides could dispense with, "Mom! She's touching me...no I didn't! He stole my juice box...!" How did the value of the claims magically shrink to near the amount of the current kitty? Honestly, I plainly and simply want honesty. Let's find out definitively and see who did what right and/or wrong and let the tree shake out what gives way to gravity. Let's have a fair fight. Lord may we please have integrity in the vote? To loosely quote Mr. Buchbinder, "This is about survivors and not bondholders." Don't tell me you're for me and s/he is not. Show me. Pr

  4. Eagle Scout Dylon Nottingham developed a playing card game called Primal Jaws. It’s is a strategic dinosaur battling game in which he created all the artwork, branding and game play... “It all started with Game Design,” Nottingham said. “I had this concept for a dinosaur combat game, and my work on that merit badge helped me begin to put it together.”... “I was making a new business with this game, and the American Business and Entrepreneurship Merit Badges helped with everything I was doing,” he said.... “Earning merit badges was incorporated into my homeschool curriculum, and

  5. And that is why I would recommend everyone to understand the lifelong effects of being a child sexual abuse survivor entails. If research is done then most people might understand mine and multiple others position on the current settlement offer. A good place to start would be this topic: It goes right to the heart of why the BSA is in bankruptcy and that is because of the lifelong effects of the trauma of sexual abuse. If it did not have such an impact on ones life then yes 100K might be appropriate.

  6. I am always amazed when I read stories such as Peters about how much I can relate. Not every detail not every word but there are constant themes that I can see that happened in my life. I know that you and I and other survivors have tried to paint a picture of what life has been like for us and I think it is a shame when sometimes we are relegated to the back of the room. I cannot expect a nonsurvivor to understand what we are constantly living with but here are two quotes from this article that I think pretty much sums it up. "Sexual victimization is a betrayal. It's a betraya

  7. BSA went hard after master ballots. I think it will be interesting when Omni responses to discovery about what they listed as master vs direct ballots. I wonder if the direct ballots all came directly from individuals ... or did coalition law firms send them directly as individual ballots to try and allow BSA to reject master ballots? To me, a direct ballot was one where an individual either mailed directly or went to Omni's site and filled out the form directly. If a lawfirm was involved in either (by a lawyer filling out the ballot or sending an individual ballot on behalf of a cla

  8. I can understand your frustration. I have never seen a post that talked about the lifelong benefits of scouting, the joy of scouting or anything of that ilk that was posted in a bankruptcy topic removed and relegated to its own topic.

  9. I'm going to risk reposting this here, though it appears elsewhere on a newly created thread. I would appreciate being allowed to say this on one of the most active threads. It means a lot to me and is relevant to all things BSA Chapter 11 as concerns Scouters and survivors engaged in conversation. My previous post reads thusly: "I have said this before but not for a good while. I'll repeat it now. I (we?) greatly value this forum, platform and conversation. I continue to be grateful for the outlet, even on the occasions I feel somewhat less than resoundingly welcomed. I know when I abrup

  10. Hey, if the Army wanted you to have a Scout unit, they'd have issued you one!! 😛 Keep up the good work. We all need you.

  11. I was told it was 180 mile radii or 360 mile circles. Basically 1 Scout camp within a 3 hour drive. Want to see Local councils and Scouting lose support even faster than now? Sell camps. Want to lose Cub Scouts because the Scout camps are too far away for families? Sell Camps (unless councils are willing to approve more camps besides their own for Cubs to use). I say this because my council has stated they will be selling 2 camps. Folks are ticked off and vowing to go elsewhere to buy their Scouting supplies and attend summer camp as a result. As for Cub Families, I have heard compl

  12. I am assuming that CE means Council Executive by which folks mean the Scout Executive. If my assumption is not correct, please let me know. Sometimes a Scout Executive comes to a local council and does well earning pay increases. Also, it is customary for a SE who goes to another council will get a raise of about 15% if my memory serves me well. Some SE’s are good managers, some good at program, and some good at development (fund raising). Few are truly expert in all three. Also, each council has unique politics, history, and individuals. A SE can do well in councils and move u

  13. #1 - You have to watch their wording carefully. They said the plan, as written, does not comply with bankruptcy law. However, they do not say you cannot have non debtors included. While they didn't come out and say it, I believe this came up previously. They may look for a LC by LC, CO by CO release. So each individually must buy into the settlement. It is not clear, but some have argued that you then need the funds from the LC or CO go to claimants from that LC and CO and voting is confirmed by LC/CO. Again, this combines objections from various law firms so may not be the final p

  14. TK has his opinions and his reasons for stating them but is not retained by the TCC or part of the TCC's legal team. If the LC's, CO's and insurance company's are to be part of the bankruptcy I believe they are also part of victims must do as well in Chapter 11 as they would in Chapter 7. hence that is where the wording substantial contribution comes into play.

  15. I believe you're correct. Also a lyric from the song of the same title by the famous puppet, "Lamb Chop." I don't know if it's a cover, but I dare not listen to check. Okay. I shall not continue, but you started it. "This is the end. My only friend, the end" of this post.

  16. Because of my hectic work week I only just now watched the TCC's Town Hall from last week. I would recommend you take 20 minutes and watch it. I also recommend it for all those who are not survivors as it will gives good information about where the Bankruptcy is sitting, why, and what the next steps are.

  18. My grand plans for sustaining the growth in my Pack are coming to a halt. Friday I found out that the Army has decided that I need to move to a different job than I planned to take this summer. The new one is 9 hours away. Depending on many factors, I'll be there by myself and my wife will step down from being the committee chair. I have one person in mind to replace me as Cubmaster, but no clear CCs. My kids will still be in the Pack as long as it exists. I may see if I can swap into a committee position that doesn't require attending weekday meetings. Our committee meetings are all do
