  1. But please don't combine it with a mandatory meeting. Also, please notify people in advance that it will be a part of the event so that the people who don't want to attend will have the choice to opt out. If youth members are present, OA should count it as part of their ordeal.

  2. Our troop is offering virtual google classroom merit badge classes for scouts. They are free and scouts can work on them at their own pace. YPT is followed in all interactions. If you know of any scouts who you like to join, they are welcome to join using any of the Google classroom codes listed below. 3. If the counselor uses google meets as part of classroom, then it is a simple video chat to explain, etc.

  4. Love your ideas. I really like the idea of having the scouts cook. I'm betting ... when we did ours as a picnic / pot-luck, we could have recruited scouts three / four scouts from every troop to help cook / contribute. That would have been great.

  5. I'm betting someone submitted it to an events calendar and it got entered. ... And, it just has not been removed yet.

  6. As someone whose livelihood depended on child participants in research studies, I’d say yes if the scout talks to a group about his/her experience. The goal here is to get scouts to try out some MBs and they might not have considered and come up with innovative ways of serving.

  7. Paid? I want to say no, but I'm not sure there is such a rule that it must be a "volunteer" basis. If you can't find the rule, don't make it a decision point and it goes in the scout's favor.

  8. Correct, except the fitness requirements are in series. So, you cannot count the same 30 days/4 weeks of fitness for T - 2nd - 1st. The fitness is really the primary reason you can't go from cross over to 1st class in 3 - 4 weeks. I actually think its fine to allow work on the ranks in parallel. The vast majority of my scouts take 2 - 3 years to get to first class anyway (only scouts with a focus on rank can come close to the 12 - 18 months to 1st class). If this was done in series, only the truly rank focused scouts would advance at all.
