Counter-prediction (which you all would have placed in the realm of sci- fi- last year): BSA and various councils cut a deal with the US to maintain their properties for use in time of pandemics as internment camps. We have been using Zoom - with the a fore mentioned limitations. MS teams also works, but not everyone has it. Our schools provide middle and high students with Chrome Books and come with google hangout/meet. So may use use. We are just starting and prefer Zoom in that you can share your screen as well as have an ongoing chat at the same time. 40 minutes also makes us be efficient.

I totaly agree. its good to spend some time talking about this with a scout because I have always found a place that they have been that qualifies. This is why this badge can be done from home while in lock down.

I doubt a nationwide shutdown will occur until September. This will go to a state by state, city by city call. Many countries, including China, are operating with the virus. This is a pause while we catch up on testing to find out what areas are actually hit hard. Areas not hit hard will release and monitor. If the testing shows cases rise above a certain level, they shut down again. I would expect limits, but most scout camps are probably <1000 people, so hopefully they could go on. Counter prediction: council professional staffs will actually grow in numbers, or at minimum stay stagnant. The BSA will be a shell of itself after this over and done. With this uncertainty, why not modify the summer camp business model to reduce financial risk, e.g., a rustic, patrol method camp (like a state park) . Minimum staff - just camp director and lifeguards. Better yet have troops provide water safety plan with their own lifeguards. Mess hall closed. Patrol cooking. No camp store, no nurse. Troop does its own program. Interactions, e.g. competitions, campfires with other troops lead by SPL's. Flexible schedule. Troop can register campsite for weekend, 4 days, whatever. My $0.02,

I don't think it's a good idea to have youth in a food establishment. They are trying to hang on with takeout orders, and food safety is paramount. No one other than essential and trained personnel should be on site. Right now is a perfect time to work on Bird Study. We're in the middle of spring migration. Most people live along a fly way. IMHO, we are thinking about this wrongly. It seems to me that we need our trained, registered, MC's and SM's who have developed conferencing abilities (and we have a lot of them) to be prepared to host meetings of scouts with themselves, or scouts with other adults (be they SM's, MBC's, MC's, district representatives, etc ...). This could be via phone, the internet that Al Gore and I built, or ham radio. Basically, we need to get back our "1 hour a week". The goal should not be doing only the MBs that you can complete during confinement. Rather, the goal should be learning what you a
