  1. I wouldn't mind it (the trolling) so much if the financial impact of the lawsuits fell on the wrongdoers. As it is, the burden of paying off the lawsuits is falling on the kids, through increased dues and fees, even though most of the kids in scouting had not even been born yet when these abuses occurred.

  2. When your organizational leadership acts as if the "customer's" desires are wrong, you get Sears.

  3. Sad part is these and the other lawyers have little or no real desire to compensate and help victims. If they did then this would handled in a different manner, with the focus on getting the proven victims assistance. This is lawyers eyeing the billion + in assets, dreaming of a new vacation home, and suing the BSA. Yeah yeah, the victims will get some crumbs....maybe

  4. Last month, a survey was published that indicated that only a third of Catholics believe in a key point of Catholic faith. Local surveys conducted at our parish/school have given a similar result. It appears to be true. Some institutions do not offer an opportunity for either schism or transition. Individuals may choose to stay or go. The institution doesn't need to change its beliefs to accommodate them.

  5. I just saw this on Facebook. I don't deny that many people were hurt before youth protection policies were put in place, but the lawyers are now trolling as a way to make money.

  6. So true. At the end of the day, these lawyers are just another company and the product they are selling is lawsuits against the BSA. I expect to see TV adds soon by the lawfirms on the low cost TV channels.

  8. Tell me about it ... the Orothodox half of me has been waiting for you all to come back for 10 centuries. But that half ain't roses either. Although sure of themselves when it comes to restrictive sexual ethics, they are unparalleled in global political intrigue (living up to every nuance of the word Byzantine).

  9. I was born and raised Catholic, but have attended a Methodist church for years now, so I'm familiar with the Apostle's Creed. This is a wonderful idea in concept, but life gets messy. The country (world?) is in the midst of reexamining our views on homosexuality. In 20 years, there will probably be a new consensus on homosexuality. But, today people are coming to their conclusions are differents speeds. This is a very natural process. It feels messy in the midst of it, but it's really not that unusual. In the Methodist church there at doctrinal reasons rooted in the faith. In Sco

  10. Terry Fossum was the featured guest speaker at my recent University of Scouting. It is a bit heave on the "attaboys", but I guess that is normal for these type of presentations. I did enjoy hearing him speak. Sorry, the audio is not great. https://vimeo.com/user101358636/review/383386043/9475492692

  11. Yes. When dedicated scouters with decades of experience regularly roll their eyes at the communications coming out of national, how can we expect a jaded media and a cynical public to believe anything BSA says. BSA needs to start by winning over its own volunteers. If they can't do that, there isn't a chance of them winning over the public.
