  1. Theres a general principle of once a uniform, always a uniform that covers this in that it once was correct so it should still be correct. I currently wear the den leader PoR patch from my mom even though its different from the current version.

  2. I stopped counting my kids ages in months when they turned from 23 months old to 2 years old.

  3. I find it inconsistent that there is no two-year-apart-max for cabins while there is for tents . . . no matter how small the cabin and no matter how large the tent. A cabin that sleeps 4 does not seem all that much different from 4 in a large tent. It would be nice if the acceptible age range were a little larger if there were multiple girls in the tent.

  5. Once again go as far to the other end as possible. Yes we wear a uniform for a reason. Pride, Unity, are two examples. No we do not wear our dress, Class A, Field Uniform to everything. We have a Class B or Utility uniform we wear to do work, summer events, etc. Yes, my baseball teams wore a practice uniform to practice. Yes, football players wear a practice uniform, as do soccer and lacrosse. Not sure where you are going with this other than oppose my post. Never did I say I would send anyone home if they didn't wear a uniform. I frankly, am offended you would even suggest that I did

  6. Some rambling , on topic thoughts. Some "Council" camps are in separate trusts ; they should be isolated from BSA bankruptcy. The state of West Virginia has a budget surplus...maybe? BSA's financial concerns are not just abuse liability claims and insurance non-payments but also injury/death liability claims, loan repayments (Summit), fewer $$$ sponsors, legal expenses, consultant expenses, Philmont and other HA upkeep, Jambo, reduced membership, pensions, salaries,... With bankruptcy, IMHO ,other sizable CO groups will break away and start their own youth programs. Memb

  7. Same way I would explain to John and Joe that they can tent together from Jan. to June as 16 & 17 year old scouts, but not afterward due to John turning 18. Still within 2 years, but one is no longer a youth for YPT purposes, even if considered such in a Crew or OA.

  8. The scouts can do the math, and figure out how far apart they are in age, and who they can tent with. It's not rocket science. An old non-boy-scout rule for girls is "safety-in-numbers". I'd much rather not have girls tenting by themselves.

  9. Sorry but I was a baseball coach and now a Scoutmaster. In BSA, we wear a uniform for a reason. If one of my players showed up not in his baseball uniform then you dint play. My question to the people pushing back on the uniform is this. Would you show up at your Softball, baseball, soccer, football, lacrosse, hockey game wearing jeans and a T-Shirt and expect to play? No, why? Because it doesn't fit to the activity. We wear a uniform,. If you don't want to wear one, don't join.

  11. We have started saying, "You are no longer a Cub Scout. Welcome to our organization which is in no way affiliated with the Girl Scouts of America. Here is your neckerchief. Do you have a preferred pronoun you would like us to use when addressing you?"
