  1. Youth in our country deserve thoughtful and positive leaders as role models. The culture grows coarse when we rip at each other. Every girl we have attracted to our all-girl scouts BSA Troop would not likely have joined other organizations for a variety of reasons. Our 25 girls are learning about our wonderful country, it’s citizens and yes, it’s multitude of religious organizations. All should seek to serve young people and avoid the urge to conflict. Our organization chooses to accent the positive and recruit unserved families. I urge the same approach on the part of other organizations

  2. I understand where you're coming from. There have been times where I wish my organization would stop obsessing over the competition and just focus on themselves for once.

  3. That is much harder than it sounds and requires dedicated adults. Even harder are two dedicated CCs and SMs. Don’t just ask for volunteers, seek out talented adults and personally recruit them. Barry

  4. "A chartered organization may also have “linked troops,” which means a shared troop committee with separate troops for boys and for girls." https://scoutingmagazine.org/2018/10/hello-scouts-bsa/ So, nope. Same committee overseeing both troops. Not just the same people sitting on two committees. Back to your regularly scheduled forum thread...

  5. In our linked troop structure, the boy troop provides two Troop Guides (an Eagle and Life, both of which have been TGs before) to assist the girl troop for the next few months or until they send them back.

  6. For all its hundred years of experience, the BSA seems to know almost nothing about marketing. We heard rumors since 2010 that soon there would be girls in the Boy Scouts. The folks at BSA headquarters have been thinking about fashioning the BSA after the English Scouting Association for some time. That means no membership limit due to sexual orientation, that means co-ed troops, that means Scouting groups for all the ages sub-grouped by age, that might mean more national control at the local level. But the marketing campaign was about "Family Scouting", implying that a parent could bring

  7. It's not my place to judge either, but the word of God shall judge us all. Christ himself told us to judge a false prophet by fruit and that only those who do the will of the Father will enter heaven. (See prior post.) Furthermore: "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Cor 6:9-10) Do not be deceived!

  8. It is not about social class. It's about the eternal law of God. A true friend must part ways with another if they insist of taking one into evil. It cannot be any other way. A true friend will tell you what you don't want to hear and warn you rather than be a yes man unto your destruction. Finally, by violating the oath to honor God and be morally straight the BSA are no longer scouts anymore anyway and thus the principle is not violated by LDS nor Trail Life. They wear the skin of the scouts but they are no longer scouts.

  9. "I'm not walking away from Scouting - rather Scouting walked away from me" Well said.

  10. For what it's worth as a son of a family with a more or less casual scouting legacy (brother made eagle, other brother and myself made star for various reasons, father a scout) and as non LDS individuals we are also done with the BSA permanently. So our sons will never be Boy Scouts because as we see it the Boy Scouts don't exist anymore. Whatever the BSA is, it not only holds little interest but it's actually morally reprehensible and repulsive to us at this point. My father considers the Boy Scouts to be dead. And no matter how much BSA corporate schemes, they lost us permanently w
