  2. Anyone opposed to BSA for girls is not going to be moved by the window dressing that a video provides. The personal observations of the SM and I (who come off as fairly traditional) has blunted the opposition of a few. What works most often is girls looking sharp enjoying the program.

  4. A new Eagle Scout can instantly receive, alongside his Eagle medal, all Eagle Palms he has earned for merit badges completed before he became an Eagle Scout. These Palms recognize additional merit badges earned before completing the Eagle board of review. Previously, an Eagle Scout needed to wait three months between each Palm — even if he earned the extra merit badges before becoming an Eagle.   5. A swim area is the final responsibility of ADULTS, not youth members. Read the G2SS on this topic. If your unit is going to create a swim area from whole cloth, you need to do it right...that means checking the bottom, marking the area, and having equipment. Spend the money to get the right equipment v Having a PFD on a rope is a sorry excuse for a proper rescue tube or torpedo buoy. Finally, GO is, was, and will always be the rescue method of last resort.

  7. Your can always leave the lame SM and son, go to a troop that has it's stuff together! NO elections...that is a MAJOR red flag right there!!

  8. Matt_theLife_Scout02, Are you a scout or an adult ? A few generic comments. No troop is perfect or can stay always close to perfect. The idea is to keep moving toward an "ideal", but while doing that provide great scouting experiences. Elections are key. Keeping them simple, open and fair is important. All positions including SPL are mainly about learning how to become a better leader. We adult leaders are spoiled when we have scouts in positions that they can naturally perform without help. It makes us look good. But in reality, we won't always have perfect s
