  1. I hold to the idea that if an activity is done outside, it's an 'outdoor activity,' and if it's some kind of athletic event, it's an 'outdoor sporting event.' Why try and complicate it? So yes, absolutely, any activity they play at Cub Camp can count towards this requirement. If they play, even for a few minutes, they did it. Simple and easy! I feel the reason it seems vague is to make sure people don't get too hung up over what does or doesn't "count," and focus more on getting the boys to be active outdoors. Especially in the summertime when it stays light longer into the evening, I mak

  3. You think that’s great. Just wait until a three year old girl starts asking you every night at bedtime, “I can be a Cub Scout when I be bigger?” And you can smile and say “Yes.” This is my happy reality. And being able to pass that Bear Cub scarf down at Crossover that used to belong to my now-adult boys... priceless.

  4. @Liz, I just want to say that it’s a great feeling to read the words “My Cub” and “she” in the same sentence. I hope she keeps on inventing and creating and having a great time in Scouting!

  5. Cub Scout color neckerchief are a BSA Supply Corporation rip-off. I was perfectly ok having my yellow necker all the wat through Cubbing (1965-8)

  6. Yeah, my thoughts on the award is that it should be easy enough for any cub who goes to day/resident camp should be able to complete the rest of the award relatively trivially. For example, the different hiking adventure loops have strong language about what counts (1 mile/3 miles) while the outdoor activity award just says go on a hike. This one is very much a don't over think it, keep it simple, make it fun.

  7. @Mich08212, now that you bring it up, I won't pardon your language. Let's keep it scout appropriate. Thank you, The moderator team.

  8. I can't believe I just read all eight pages of this thread. It seems clear that some members of the troop committee do not believe your son was qualified for Eagle even though he passed his EBOR. It was mentioned that a member of the EBOR panel also had reservations but passed him anyway (or did I get that wrong). Perhaps these reservations are related to the physical limitations of your son or other factors that affected his participation. Perhaps quality was missing from efforts made at the last minute. From the bullying comments, it seems some resentment toward your son and/or your fam

  9. EXCUUUUSE ME!?? I can speak for myself!! We ain't talkin' bout temp patches from UofScouting here, the one patch that IS NOT in my bin is the small patch that says TRAINED on my left sleeve. That is not a bling patch. That's a fur real one. Seriously, one can have all the UofS degrees in the world and none of them is as important than the position trained patch on the left sleeve. I have all the training from Cubs through Venturing including the UC and Committee position training because I want to know what those people are supposed to be doing to support the boys. UofScouting

  10. "Police have identified a Boy Scout leader who drowned after saving a boy struggling in a Utah pond. Salem police said Thursday that 22-year-old Wesley Robert Kratzer of Orem, Utah, disappeared underwater after pushing one of his young charges to safety on Wednesday night. Chief Brad James says Kratzer was found by divers under about 12 feet (4 meters) of water. He says the water is typically calm at the popular swimming spot, and it’s not clear why Kratzer slipped under the surface. He says Kratzer was one of three leaders helping three Scouts learn swimming techniques so
