  1. When we meet, we all meet in the same location. And break into our seperate dens. So they are den meetings. We all do the flag ceremony together and break up into dens afterwards. This is my 4th year in scouts and never had someone want to make a detailed agenda like this. And just needed other opinion on what to tell him. I believe the introduction part is just because it's our first Pack meeting and wants all the parents to know who we are bit that should take 2 mins. Thank y'all for your input.
  2. I agree with you 100% I have no idea to tell you the truth what the difference is in his mind. My response to him was if it took us 30 mins to break into dens I'd be highly disappointed.
  3. How long do you spend on opening flag ceremony and etc. before breaking out into dens. I was given an agenda suggestion from a commitee member and with everything broken down we would only have 20 mins of den time out of the hour we go to the meeting. This is what his agenda looked like 7:00 introduction 7:10 flag ceremony 7:15 cub master briefing 7:30 break into dens 7:50 cub master closing
  4. This is my third year in scouts. Our pack does not collect dues. We try to do fundraisers, however doesn't always come through. When we do fundraisers the money will go towards pack trailer, the derby tracks, and what not. And we always paid for the Belt loops/pins. However this year we have decided to have the parents pay for them their self. How do I break it to them? We can do den fundraising but I know all boys won't attend and I'm not going to have my boy working to raise money to pay for another kids Belt loops. Now we earn a lot of these. Because we go camping once a month and we are a
  5. Thank you everyone for all your comments. Quite interested information. Seems like everyone had lots of useful information to share with one another. I was shocked to come back on and see so many comments on here.
  6. I never thought about the clothes you have in during the day feeling drying and holding moisture. My own son has a way of sleeping in his clothes from the day, and I am always telling him to change but boys will be boys. But now that I hear this information I will make him change. I am not sure if Florida has a Winter camping course. Not much of Winter down here in the south. But I will look into it, because I know my troop does go up north during the winter months for week long camping trips. Thanks everyone.
  7. My son is now a Bear this year, I am the one to plan all our activities and what achievements/electives we are working on. The Den Leader keeps track of who was there and who is awarded what. However I just came across this Cub Scout Immediate Recognition Kit online and that is was something they should have been earning last year and into this year. So my question is, do you use this in your den is it something I should award my boys that I had last year and moved up with us this year? What would you do?
  8. I am lucky enough to have been able to get a hold of out local Florida Fish and Wildlife office, and they are able to send someone out to do a presentation on basically anything I may need from him. So I went about and asked my den leaders what they would like for me to tell him so he is able to be prepared. This will be for the Tigers, up to the Webelow II. I figured I would come to yall for any ideas you might have on what he can come and talk to the boys about. Thank you so much for any ideas you may have. What can he discuss and the boys will be able to work towards a belt loop or achievem
  9. I am laughing as I am reading this. Because we are in Florida, this camping trip I thought was for a future trip we have planned in November, which we had last year went camping and the low got to be 33 degrees. However this is for a family trip she is doing this weekend, which I just looked up the weather and the low will be 64 degrees. My florida boys would not make it in -20 degree weather much less -43 degree. But thank you for your advice.
  10. What do you use in your tent to stay warm when camping in the cold weather? I personally just use an extra blanket inside my sleeping bag. But I have a parent asking for input on a space heater that is tent safe. Asking for negative or positive input.
