    • My boys like the old-ish uniforms.  Not the old canvas pants and cotton shirts, and not the stuff they started offering when the branding switched - where the shirt just says 'BSA'.  The shirt is some sort of synthetic or synthetic blend, as are the pants, but there isn't any lycra or spandex in them.  Two gripes are that the pants are ill-fitting (but that has always been the case, regardless of version) and they tear/wear a little too easily. When everything changed the last time, I scooped up two shirts and a pair of pants.  I did end up having to buy a second pair of pants off eBay.  Don't know if we'll need one of the two shirts.  I might be willing to part with a shirt that says "Boy Scouts of America" above the pocket if anyone is interested.  😂
    • It depends on the person I suspect.  There was a time I would have jumped at the opportunity if I could have worked it out.  But, focus changes, and priorities do also.  Likely a great experience if interactions happen that are worthwhile.  I know that the best things I brought back from the jamborees I was able to attend were all NOT patches and such, but the meetings with other Scouters and youth from around the world and the U.S.  But, the pressure schedules of many of the Scouters with whom I would liked to sit down and talk negated real substance, and I have never been able to get responses from the couple of contacts I attempted after it was all put to bed.  Busy people with complicated lives, and if integral to National, not able to have a cracker barrel with someone they barely met and that is not on the same page in some cases.   The overall experiences there will not be lost.  Similarly, my visits to PTC and on the trails at Philmont will always be valued and hold many good memories.  They did allow some of the interactions I found missing in the Jambo's.
    • I live nearby.  Toyed with the idea of going, until I saw the registration fee.  Is the content really worth that much?  I could send 3 adults to Wood Badge for that.
    • 100%. I had the performance uniform and loved it.  Lost a buncha weight (yay) so needed a new shirt.  No more of those, bought the cotton one.  Miserable.  Just awful.  I mean it looks good.  You can really crisp it up with the iron, but wearing it in FL is rough.  So hot.  Just soaks up the sweat around the neck and pits and stays super moist.  Strong excitement about the re-introduction of performance options except I suspect it'll take our council shop years to cycle through current stock to where it is available locally and I like... JUST bought this cotton one so will have to stick with it for now.  Hot and gross as it is.
    • - Cotton doesn't kill.... wet cotton kills (in cold weather)  Cotton has an affinity for water (hydrophilic), and is therefore difficult to dry.  It does not wick away moisture, buts holds it, and therein lies the problem in cold weather.  Makes a great towel for that reason, though! - Cotton shrinks (but can be pre-shrunk) - Cotton wrinkles (ironing, anyone?) - I love cotton, in hot weather 😜
