	Quite a few years ago, I was Cubmaster of Pack 85 in my local council.  It failed to recharter a year after my son aged out, and I had moved on.  I kept renewing the web address (domain name) pack85.org for many more years in case there was a chance of it restarting.  By now, there is no chance of it restarting, and I would like the web address to go to another unit, rather than risk it being picked up by a non-scouting entity.
</p>

<p>
	Is there another Pack 85 out there, and would you like this web address?
</p>

<p>
	If you are interested please message me, and we can arrange transfer of the domain name.
</p>

<p>
	BTW, I had been a member of this forum long ago under a different user name, but it had been disabled for lack of activity.

	Looking for help creating a Login profile for Scoutbook for a new Scout.  In our Troop, we encourage the Scouts to update their advancement progress in Scoutbook themselves whenever they get sign offs in the handbook.  The SPL also uses Scoutbook to send email communications to the rest of the Troop.  It's important for the boys to have their own Scoutbook profiles.   The Scout is my son and his email address is already assigned to his account.  His Scoutbook details are also already connected to my Scoutbook profile.  However, when I tried to set up a new login profile using that email address, we only get an error message when logging in with that information.  The message says "Warning, another user is using the same email address."  Well, yeah.  That's the point isn't it?  Why isn't that account being linked to the login account with the same information?  Any help or tips are greatly appreciated.

<p>
	I've run across a couple of Scouting podcasts that remain freshly updated:
</p>

<ul><li>
		<a href="" rel="">Scouting on Purpose</a>:  Mark Cherry's presentation could use some pep &amp; sound production, but his heart is in the right place
	</li>
	<li>
		<a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/scouterstan-scout-leader-podcast/id1466135335" rel="external nofollow">Scouter Stan</a>:  Stan Richards provides over 180 short subject episodes (5-10 min. apiece) as an "<span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#1d1d1f;font-size:13px;text-align:left;">Online Scouting Commissioner Podcast</span>", but are a great resource for all Scouters.
	</li>
</ul><p>
	Alas, two of my old favorites appear destined for the worldwide web graveyard:
</p>

<ul><li>
		<a href="https://bobwhiteblather.com/" rel="external nofollow">Bobwhite Blather</a> hasn't been updated in nearly a year
	</li>
	<li>
		<a href="https://scoutmastercg.com/" rel="external nofollow">ScoutmasterCG</a> at least used to partially resolve, but now returns nothing at all ... too bad as Clarke Green's wisdom, tips, and infographics were invaluable.
	</li>
</ul><p>
	Do you have any favorites that remain fresh?

<h3>
	<span style="font-size:18px;">CALL SCOUTS CANADA FOR TIPS TO QUELL YOUR CAMPING CALAMITIES</span>
</h3>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;">In honour of the upcoming epic Canadian camping season, Scouts Canada (the country’s leading co-ed youth organization), is ‘going to the phones’ to help outdoor-challenged Canadians navigate common camping calamities. Starting May 1st, expert advice on the ten top camping conundrums will be available for free, 24/7, when calling Scouts Canada’s </span><span style="font-size:18px;"><span style="color:#3366ff;"><strong>‘Camptastic’ Helpline </strong></span>at <strong>1-844-SCOUT101</strong>. </span>
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;">“As nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, Scouters live for camping, but we recognize that many Canadians may hesitate to benefit from the camping experience due to rusty skills or a lack of confidence,” said Mike Eybel, a volunteer Scouter of nine years with Scouts Canada. “A 24/7 helpline was the quickest, most practical and easiest way for us to support Canadians this camping season, wherever they’re at and whenever they need.”</span>

<p>
	Our 3 units (B/G troops + pack) are fortunate to have a dedicated meeting space all our own. Not too long ago, this was the exclusive domain of the boy troop, so tracking who was using it when was a simple matter - just look at the troop calendar. Then they granted more access to the pack, and then added a girl troop.
</p>

<p>
	The girl troop was originally set up in the website as a patrol.  Then two patrols with a separate "group" to denote the entire troop.  While they had a joint committee, this sort of made sense.
</p>

<p>
	Now it's time for them to stand on their own.  They have their own separate committee and are holding far fewer events jointly with the boys' troop. It's time for the websites to make a break, too.
</p>

<p>
	The calendar is the main issue we're having with that, but it would be nice to have a community-facing page that highlighted all three of our units.
</p>

<p>
	Are there any multi-unit troop management systems out there?

	'Lo everyone,
</p>

<p>
	I am new to this forum as well. Anyways, I am especially interested in pioneering and so hope to start a server in discord on Pioneering and activities related to outdoors as many people use discord these days so that more awareness among people could be raised based on that subject. However I cannot do it alone and would need help (it is very hard to find people interested in this field through the internet which why I hoped to find a place like this where pioneering is known a lot more and I could get help) so if there're any more people who share the same interest I hope they could join the server and help me out with it like the on including the right guides related to pioneering, and the discussion channels for them and how VCs can be done in an orderly manner.
</p>

<p>
	Here is the server link if you are interested, (Pioneering and The Outdoors) - <a href="https://discord.gg/c346ZUpKH8" rel="external nofollow">https://discord.gg/c346ZUpKH8</a>

<p>
	There is a new activity log system as of,  I think, today.
</p>

<p>
	We had been using the ability in the old system to make notes about trips.  (Who slept in the cabin versus who pitched tents outside in below-freezing whether?  Who arrived late and thus did not pitch her own tent but slept in a tent her friends pitched?  etc, etc, etc)    I cannot find these notes in the new system.  Are they gone?  Are am I simply not looking in the right place.
</p>

<p>
	Paper records are looking better and better.

<p>
	It's sometimes easy to forget WHY scouts (and scouters) come to scouts....it's the promise of OUTDOOR ADVENTURE.
</p>

<p>
	When we lose sight of that, we lose sight of anything that makes scouting special and that differentiates it from ordinary youth activities.
</p>

<p>
	Here are 5 web sites that I think every scouter should visit periodically as they scout their way across the web...
</p>

<ul><li>
		<strong>Outdoor Project:</strong> Excellent resource for ideas for places to explore, things to make the adrenaline rush, and ways to do it efficiently, safely, comfortably, and ethically. <br /><a href="https://www.outdoorproject.com/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.outdoorproject.com/</a><br />

	</li>
	<li>
		<strong>Outside Online:</strong>  Outside magazine has been a go-to authority for dependable outdoor adventure information since 1977.  Sometimes a bit too enamored of style and travel, its heart is in the right place and there are always solid viewpoints on outdoor adventure places, stuff, tips and more...<br /><a href="https://www.outsideonline.com/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.outsideonline.com/</a> <br />

	</li>
	<li>
		<strong>The Adventure Plan (BSA):</strong>  When scouting is done right, everything happens outdoors and adventure is the name of the game that enables everything else to work. Help your troop plan a genuine adventure...<br /><a href="https://tap.scouting.org/" rel="external nofollow">https://tap.scouting.org/</a> <br />

	</li>
	<li>
		<strong>National Geographic:</strong>  I often find that the world becomes a much smaller place when people starting thinking only inside their own little box. If your troop's idea of "adventure" is going to the closest state park then maybe it's time to think about all the possible adventures that exist wayyy outside the box. I might never get to most of the places that National Geographic writers go to, and I might not do most of the things that they do, but I can always dream...<br /><a href="https://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/</a> <br />

	</li>
	<li>
		<strong>National Park Service: </strong> Ever since Congress made Yellowstone the first park back in 1872, America's national park system has been a shining jewel to showcase and preserve America's natural wonders and our collective national heritage. Today's National Park System encompasses some 84 million acres of parkland that generates $35 million annually in direct revenue.  Parks include wild rivers, majestic mountain ranges, dense forests, and deserted, uh, deserts...  <br /><a href="https://www.nps.gov/index.htm" rel="external nofollow">https://www.nps.gov/index.htm</a>

<p>
	Came across another outdoors-oriented web site that could be a good resource for scouting webmasters and anyone interested in picking up some new tips, tricks and ideas about outdoor adventures.  I especially liked the info about wilderness tracking...
</p>

<p>
	Alderleaf Wilderness College:   <a href="https://www.wildernesscollege.com/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.wildernesscollege.com/</a>

<p>
	I came across an excellent web site called 50 Miler that is about 50-percent scout focused and 50-percent general backpacking focused (which, of course, is also relevant to scouts).
</p>

<p>
	Many of the blog posts are recent and all (even the "oldies") are of excellent quality --- relevant and accurate.
</p>

<p>
	The site isn't about BSA's 50 Miler award, but with it's focus on long distance backpacking treks, it is completely relevant to any scouter thinking about the 50 Miler award...

	If you could start over, which Troop management software would you pick?  Our Troop has never had a website and in developing a new one we would like to incorporate other functionality into it as well.  We currently have an email group platform for communication, polls, document storage, and photo storage.  The Troop currently uses TroopMaster for advancement tracking, but not to its fullest potential.  We are considering the following:  <font color="#000000" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#000000;">Trooptrack, </font>TroopWebHost, Scoutmanager, Troopkit, SOAR, ScoutTrack.  Any advice would be much appreciated.
