    • Has anyone else ever read the national insurance and the local supplemental? It sucks. I would have to look it up again, but if I recall it was something like 10,000/50,000. $10,000 per person, $50,000 per incident. I’m on my phone, so such super sleuthing is harder, but I was shocked at how crummy this insurance was.    Update Council rider - $7500 per covered condition, $15000 per incident, Death benefit $10,000.    Does anyone buy the supplemental unit insurance? Why would I buy that if national covers us? https://www.hsri.com/camping-insurance.jsp   Update 2: National’s $1,000,000 per person.

    • Old Eagle Scout and new Lion Dad here... I’m jumping back into scouting with a kindergarten daughter. That’s not something I would have ever dreamed of when I was a scout, and I couldn’t be more excited. Scouting absolutely prepared me for life... and the Air Force Academy, 7 years on active duty, 4 (and counting) in the reserves, Wall Street, and everything in between. What else provides kids an opportunity to camp, hike, shoot, swim, sail, ride... and learn to lead and be good people along the way? If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re in the right place. It’s only been a few weeks, but I haven’t seen any national issues affecting our Pack, just people passionate about developing our kids into leaders and citizens of character.
    • Hey! Our previous Pack did face painting at every rank advancement, and our Cubmaster had a set of scripts from *somewhere* that I really liked. But now that I search for face painting scripts for Webelos I'm finding stuff that is full of half-assed and stereotypical Native American references. I wouldn't necessarily mind NA references if it was done well, but to avoid even the appearance of cultural appropriation I'd prefer a face painting ceremony script that is culturally neutral. That is what we had - no references to or copies of any specific cultural face painting that I recall. I have messaged my previous Cubmaster but I'm not sure I'll get an answer quickly enough as we had a kiddo earn Webelos at the very last minute and we have a Pack meeting on Monday! He had a set of these scripts that he made copies of, and they had diagrams of the different face paint designs for the different ranks... he got them from somewhere. Help?
    • Mama Llama, you are in Nawth Kay Row Linah.  I truthfully know nothing about your situation.   Up here in the Washington DC area, we have many active, wonderful  Packs and Troops of Jewish consideration. I have a good Scout buddy,  Scoutmaster of one, just earned his Wood Badge. Here is a connection for you:    https://www.jewishscouting.org/  Remember the Cub Scout Mantra:   KiS MiF, KiS MiF... keep it simple, make it fun. See you on the trail....
