    • That's not so crazy. The Methodist Church has been undergoing its own schisms and upheavals and has also had decades of membership and financial losses that it has to weigh and consider. There is very strong support for scouting in certain sectors of the UMC and the UMC can't afford to alienate them and lose more membership. On the other hand, the financial risks and potential costs of continuing a relationship with scouting is real.  Negotiating something that doesn't have the UMC itself ending the relationship with scouting but instead causes that by default or significantly reduces the level of involvement could be one possible strategy to solve a difficult dilemma.
    • Little.  There are some issues that are anything but "cut and dry."  Bankruptcy Judges know their decisions will be reviewed, and potentially appealed.  This one has insurers with appeals ready to tee up.  She's taking a long time to be thorough, wrestle with issues, and given the time it's taking possibly dealing with portions she will approve and portions she will reject.
    • Have not been able to get any decision or direction from my council on CinS MB.
    • Considering the rollercoaster coming out of SCOTUS the past couple weeks is there any chance that the judge is waiting on a determination from 1 of the 4 outstanding SCOTUS opinions before handing down her judgement?
    • Stay strong, defend your son.  Once this investigation is over, if your son is reinstated to his position(s) I recommend accepting the reinstatements and then resigning after a short period (So the reinstatements are official, documented, and witnessed.). A few reasons for the eventual resignation(s), first to dissuade other false accusations by adding a cost to BSA (remember our #1 resource is volunteers), secondly to send a message that your son was volunteering and his time and commitment was as privilege to the BSA, and it's units. I hate false accusations, they weaken true reports by clouding the field, and the false accusers are never punished in a justifiable and fair manner for the damage they caused.
