    • We can get 20 through easy enough.  I think the main issue is that in a larger group there is less participation per scout during the discussion time.  In addition getting all the blue cards signed there is a lot of waiting around. With an assistant or two, we would have the chance to work with the scouts that need to take a little longer (and I can assign the lanyard part to someone else).  I really don't want to organize my own event.  What I may do is work at the troop level.  That way it could be from just a few scouts to the whole troop.  We may have to meet several times since most troop meetings are only about 1.5 hours.
    • Our council recently had someone organize a merit badge activity for a small number of Scouts.  I'm sure that if you were to organize it and staff it, they'd be happy to get the word out.  Who knows, maybe you could find a few kindred souls and have a leather working merit badge session with multiple instructors. I'm a huge proponent of quality over tradition.  If it makes sense to have 12, then don't get pushed into 20.  What are they going to do - fire you?
    • Wow!  I would love to have that few number of students.  I can see that at a troop event.  I'd be happy to get down to about a dozen.
    • I know this article is now 8 years old, but it is one of the dumbest things I have read in a while.   Yes, going to the store.  This is one of my favorite activities and truly encompasses all that "outside" as to offer.  Sight and Hearing aren't perfect in everyone and not everyone experiences these senses in the same amazing way that the author implies.  Yes, the Louvre... the cheapest round trip flight I can find from here to Paris is around $1100. That's isn't including all of the other expenses with that trip.  My VR setup cost way less than that... I love the outside and I spend as much time there as I can, but this kind of snark isn't convincing anyone.  It is a great read for people who look at kids and their computers/phones/"vidya games" and scoff.  It is really annoying for people who enjoy those things or have various difficulties interacting with "outside."
    • I think six to eight would be a good number.
