    • I thought the rules for Short term camp went into place about 2 years ago when I went through my first short-term camp ad. classes and just completed my renewal. There is no difference in the rules between council or district events. Even if staff stays over on a day-only event it can trigger the requirements.  I agree with you SiouxRanger  that a lot of camp inspections were ok we will fix that (wink, wink). I would not surprise me if you found too much you might not be asked to be on that group next time, Just my 2 cents. I remember the amount of just junk  paperwork when i started over haling our health lodge
    • Our District events are usually ok regarding what the Units get to do during non-program time.  All meals are cooked in camp and we are generally left alone.  Council events I have zero interest in ever going again.
    • When I realized that my second council's Wood Badge course this year was taking places on weekends I wasn't scheduled to go home, I contacted the course director to find out if there were open slots.  He said he had a wait list 13 deep and had gone through 8 or so.  The chances were highly unlikely.  Well, around 10:30 on Wednesday, I got an email offering me a slot.  Got a green light from my wife and my boss for the Friday, so I'm off to Gilwell - well, sort of.  I suspect I will have some personal issues with referring to anyplace outside of the lovely hilly green area with "Hitler's only gift to Scouting" in the Epping Forest that still holds my Victorinox Swiss Army Ranger knife as "Gilwell", but I'll manage.
    • Cases and thoughts on whether a bankruptcy court has authority to approve nonconsensual liability releases. Silverstein’s 281-page opinion ...concluded that abuse victims can lose, without consent, their right to sue third parties that contribute to a mass settlement fund to pay them. The bankruptcy code “does not explicitly authorize releases, neither does it prohibit” such liability releases.  https://news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law-week/boy-scouts-bankruptcy-exposes-court-split-on-liability-releases
