New IH assigned new COR to a pack unit that had been operating without oversight for many years when they became aware that they were indeed the CO. New COR had come from pack and had/has built relationship with adults. CO also has a troop unit that has had an active COR for many years. IH would like different COR's for respective units. Does the IH have the final say on this, what's the collective wisdom out there, and where does BSA stand?

I'm looking for official word on this, but it is one COR per charter organization. The COR represents the CO, and this is the person who would communicate with the CC and the IH.

We have recently had this issue come up in Chicago Area Council where many of the CORs are trying to retake control from the current Executive Committee. National has told us that the CO appoints a COR and that person is the COR for all units that CO charters. Our CO charters five units so we were trying to get 5 votes at the confirmation meeting. I bet that your council wouldn't care or notice unless it came to conflict like we are having in CAC. If having a different COR for each unit makes things easier or provideds a better program for the youth do it that way and let your council tell you to change it.

From what I understand, each CO has 1 vote at the District/Council level. Therefore, 1 CO, 1 COR, no matter how many units. The COR would be COR for all.

 

But, as you can see, different Councils do things differently, & not always the way it SHOULD be done.

Charter organization agreement and COR training are consistent...the CO must provide one COR for all units chartered by the CO, Cubs, Boy Scouts, venture, seascouts...no matter how many of what type...only one COR per CO....serves all of the CO's units.

PS you can have partner CO's but they have to agree on a COR (who/which appoints)

Concur with what ScoutNut and anarchist say.

 

Further, IF you are in that wonderful National boil called "internet recharter", ScoutNet will kick out an error if it detects multiple CORS across units of the same Chartered Partner (at least it did with me last year as we used it for the first time).

We did internet rechartering, worked well and allowed different COR's for Pack and Troop.

 

The issue of voting rights at council meetings is totally seperate from COR's on Charters. It doesn't have to be the COR to vote, it could be the IH.
