Internet newsgroups vs forums

just to let anyone know, there is another whole world out there of about 40,000 discussion groups - called newsgroups. You can see some of the activity by searching Google "Groups". There are several newsgroups for Scouting, such as -

rec.scouting.usa could be a useful newsgroup but after a while you get tired of all the belligerent posts and wonder if the posters are really Scouters.

I find that forums are better, because there seems to be less ignorant jerks running rampant on Scouting site. Also, forums are usually moderated, and the spammers and such are banned.

With newsgroups you tend to get alot of perverts strolling into topics. I just read a rather disgusting post in the rec.scouting or w/e it is called newsgroup. There are very sick people out there. Message boards beat newsgroups hands down any day.
