  • Poly wool shirts

I am considering purchasing a poly-wool long sleeve shirt for to use at more 'formal' occasions. Does anyone have an experience with them.

    Thanks.

I have a poly-wool in short sleeve. Very comfortable.

I bought one once, because I thought it would be warmer. It just has a different appearance than the cotton/poly blend in my opinion. Was comfortable though.

Welcome to the forums Howiezee3! And Happy New Year!

I have to admit that this topic has caused a song to stick in my mind, one of those annoying 'ear worm' kinds of songs. It goes: "polly wolly doodle all day....."
          Sorry, couldn't resist.

I have two sets of the poly-wool uniforms. They are great for courts of honor or other more formal occasions when the individual scouter wants to wear a field uniform but doesn't want the uniform to look like it is primarily for camping. The material is thinly woven. It is not designed for camping or outdoors.

I would recommend that you have a tailor or a seamstress sew on the insignia. The trousers come unhemmed and you may need to have the shirt sleeves altered to fit. The uniform has to be professionally dry cleaned. It looks great and presents great image when properly altered, cleaned and pressed. I wear it with a BSA (old style) leather belt and brown plain toe oxfords.

Thanks all. That is what I hoped to hear. Sounds like the right uniform for Boards, presentations and COH,
Best wishes to all for a Happy New Year.
