  • OA Logo Changes Through the Years

When I did my Ordeal in the early 1990s the logo was the stylized Native American head with ceremonial dress. Before that I believe it was a profile view of a Native American with headdress. Then, when I got involved in Scouting again I noticed that the logo changed to an arrowhead. Does anyone know when these updates took place?

Although I like the idea of focusing on the arrow, after all we are the Order of the Arrow, and are on a quest to "seek the arrow"; however I'm concerned about the down play of Indian Lore in the OA. Our ties to native lore and traditions are a large part of the mystique and allure of the Order of the Arrow, in short our PR and marketing.

Kids these days don't see as much of Native American culture as they did when we were children. I don't see it as much of a draw as it used to be. That said, my sons enjoy that part of OA, and are in their ceremony team.
