  • Navigating scouting.org

I was googling items related to merit badge counselors and came across a Counselor Guide Fishing Merit Badge at: http://www.scouting.org/filestore/Ou...orGuide.kc.pdf

Does anyone know how to navigate to this counselor guide without google, starting at www.scouting.org?

Secondary question, does BSA have a similar counselor guide for other merit badges?

It would be nice if there was just one place you could go to on scouting.org to browse online publications.

Theoretically you can navigate without Google. I find Google is the easiest way, though.

Good point. I thought they had a link to it, but then I looked it up. It's my local Council's website that has a link to beascout.org.

If you go to "Get involved" on the homepage of scouting.org, it links you to beascout.org.

I suppose BSA assumes if you are a MBC, you are an expert in the field and the MB pamphlet should be adequate. I know they have certification requirements for a few of them such as canoeing but not for something really benign like Nuclear Science (what could possibly go wrong there ?)

I know a bunch of teenagers that could run circles around the monkey they have coding scouting.org, but benefiting the BSA does not fit the Eagle Service Project rules. Oh, well.

I'm not looking for expertise. I noticed in the fishing mbc guide, there were some helpful notes on what to expect when working with scouts. I was hoping there would be helpful notes for other merit badges.
They could be helpful in recruiting mbc's for our troop.

            KA,

I couldn't agree with you more. I am a certified YMCA swim instructor and Red Cross Lifeguard and there is stuff in the Swimming MB pamphlet that still perplexes me. I have asked every swim coach or instructor I know and eve certified Red Cross Lifeguard Instructors about the "trudgeon" stroke. No one has ever heard of it. I looked it up on Wikipedia and YouTube and now I get it, but it is ancient history.

Some guidance would be extremely helpful. I have noticed they are starting to add some "tips" at least with the new Nova Awards pamphlets.

I only found 3 of them (via Google). Fishing, Fly Fishing and Fish and Wildlife Management. Given the commonality of subjects, it's clear someone did those for some special purpose.

topshot: Can you please post the link to the Wildlife Management? I guess I'll use these three as a start.
