Training: Will
Your Leaders Sign Up?
Part II
Your Council or District may plan and
prepare the very best training that is available; but unless Leaders participate, the
training is of no benefit. Part one of this article, listed nine principles to
encourage Scouters to attend training. The principles were adapted from a pamphlet
titled "Successful Ideas: Encouraging Sunday School Workers to Train". It was
written by Wayne Poling and posted on The Sunday
School Page.
This week, in Part II, you will find
suggestions for promotional aids and items you can use in your Unit to promote
participation in training events.
Note: The following is
adapted for use by Scout Leaders from the same pamphlet written by Mr. Poling as mentioned
previously.

Sign-up Chart
A sign-up chart for those interested in
attending training should be available at Unit events or committee meetings where training
will be announced or discussed. Registration must follow guidelines of the Council
or District hosting the event.
Unit Newsletter
Articles
Following are ideas for three articles
that can be developed for your Unit newsletter. These are very general ideas; you will
want to take them and develop details and specific information for your newsletter.
Idea #1--In this article, begin by speaking to the needs of the Scout, the Unit, the
Leader, that will be dealt with by the study. Announce the training, date, time, and
location. Share for whom the training is designed. Speak to why Scouters should
participate.
Idea #2--List specifics that will be dealt with in the training. Give the date, time,
and location of the training. Give the name of the training who will be leading it.
Idea #3--List four or more reasons Scout Leaders should attend training. Share your own
experience with training and the benefits. Give the date, time, and location of the
training.

Give training your very best planning,
preparation, and promotion. It will make a great difference. Give it your best!
