Steps to an out of council
Long-Term Boy Scout Summer Camping Experience

    a) An adult leader will meet with the SPL to introduce the guide, patrol advisory form, and expectations.

    b) The SPL will introduce the resource and opportunity at the next PLC, and distribute copies of the guide and advisory form to each patrol leader.

    c) Each PL is asked to work with his patrol to choose their first, second, and third choice for long term camp.

    d) At the following PLC, each patrol leader is responsible for giving a short presentation on their top three choices. The presentation should include

      • information about why the places were chosen,
      • what their scouts expect to gain from each particular camp, and
      • information from calling the council/camps to find out costs (Scout & adult) and dates available.

    e) The SPL will moderate these PL presentations, and call for the PLC to determine a final list of first, second & third choices.

    f) The SPL will confirm dates/costs for the three PLC choices, and lead a vote at the next regular troop meeting among the Scouts qualified/interested in the out-of-council long-term summer camp to make the final choice for our long term camp location.
