So, your Scout doesn't have to the 12 week program, he can do the 4
weeks under the old requirements. But he does have to earn the badge
before his 18th birthday.
If he is still too close to his 18th birthday, you may have a
legitimate claim for an extension (contact your local Scout Executive
or Council/District Advancement Chair).
