Scouts and Sports

Has any troop or pack tried putting it's own ball team together to compete?
This past ball season just about wiped out my troop, everyone save 2 out
of 15 were involved. For three months I more or less had no program,
became frustrated and realized I could not compete. If we are to have a
program that is for the boys and fun then maybe we need to take some of the
program ideas like physical fitness, atheletics and sports and actually put
them to work. I have thought (to my self at this point) that perhaps we
need to put our troop into the league as a team, concentrate on those
program ideas that fit for the three months that affect us and see how it
goes.

The worst we could do would be come in last place, this may take scouting
down a notch. The best we could do would be to learn more about
sportsmanship, strengthen our troop and give the boys the ability to
participate in something they really enjoy.

I know I haven't thought out all of the possibilities, just throwing out an
idea. BTW all of my boys are similar in age so we could field a scout team
without to much difficulty.

I am sure some scouting regulation, policy or guide can provide me further
details on this. It there a form?
