Duty to God... (was Cubs VS Sports)

Steve,
You're probably right, but we had a debate at the first committee meeting
of
the Scouting year (my other life as a Member of Committee) about whether or
not we'd attend the Council's annual Catholic retreat/campout at Auriesville,
the
Shrine of the North American Martyrs. The SM had heard horror stories about
boys going thru the campsites knocking down tents and creating chaos. After
our UC explained that this was probably due to units not providing an adequate
program for the non-Catholic boys who went along, it was decided that we would
go and we would make a special effort to include activities that would keep
every-
body involved regardless of religious affiliation.
I guess I should mention that we're sponsored by a Catholic church and
this
will be the first time in quite a number of years that the troop had even
considered going on this weekend. It does help that we finally have a lay
religious leader
who has taken on the responsibility of being the religious awards coordinator
for
the troop.
Some of us do try.
