Invitiations to visit Boy Scout troops

Hi Kim

As usual you are the wise Leader and a good example for all of us.

I believe the CM has the responsibility to give the information to Den
Leaders and parents. Many times they don't know how to expose the Webelos
to Troops. Rarely do Troops call Packs to visit.

As Cub Master, I studied the District to find the differences in the
Troops. I give the Webelos leaders a list of what I think is the Four Best
Troops in our area including our Troop. I do this even to the Webelos Dens
who visit our Troop. I tell them why I like them and what the differences
are between them. Some are more Boy Run than others, some are much bigger
than others and so on.

Last February our Troop acquired 25 new Scouts and only one came from my
Pack. The Den split into three of the four Troops. At our Camporee in
October I went to the other Troops to look for the other Webelos we didn't
get. They found me and were very excited to tell me how the loved their
Troops. Eight out of nine are still in and loving it.

I am not the Cub Master this year but I still gave the list to our Second
Year Webelos Leader. Last week the leader (our SM's best friend) told me
that he agreed these were the four best Troops. He also told me our Troop
will probably get two of the 10 Webelos and he wasn't one of them. Arrrg!,
my big mouth, but I sleep at night.

Many times you can't rely on the Den leaders or Troops to expose the
Webelos to Boys Scout Troops. I think the CM should make sure they get this
exposure.

I love this Scouting Stuff
