Re: Pinewood Derby Help

Steve,

I am having the boys work on their cars with their parents. What I have
been able to do is arrange for the boys to visit a jet car this
weekend. The boys will be able to sit in the car and the owner will
give a little presentation. It is amazing how much enthusiasm is there
is from everybody. The boys looked like I had told them we were going
to Disney Land or something.

If you contact your nearest drag strip, they will be able to put you in
contact with the local organization of cars who have programs for
visiting youths. Some of the drivers and owners I talked to are
competitors for the top spots in the National Hot Rod Association.

You could probably contact any race track in your area if a drag strip
is not close.

Fellow Scouts and Scouters'

In the interest of getting off the stripped shirt/Wood Badge thread. I
would like to cool the flames by requesting any information or tips
that we can use to incorporate our Pinewood Derby car building into
our meetings leading up to Derby Day. Tips on construction, painting ,
running the race, race songs/skits are more than welcome to this
novice.

Thank you for your support!!!
