Re: Troop Lock-Ins

A Lock-in is where Scouts go somewhere and stay overnight. They can
stay at a skating rink, bowling alley or community center. They often
skate, bowl or play until late in the night and then sleep on the floor
until the next day. I guess "lock-in" comes from the Scouts not leaving
the place where they stay until the next morning.

My troop uses lock-in's so the boys can focus on fun. We discourage
personal electronics, TV, computer games and popular music during our
Scouting program, focusing on instruction and appreciation of the
outdoors. The boys get tired of "knot tying" at every meeting and want
to share their normal activities with their frinds in Scouting. That is
what I use Lock-ins for. Others use them for concentrated instruction
or leadership retreats.

Where do you live in Italy? I've spent some time in Napoli, Brendidi,
Trieste, Aviano and Sigonella.
