Re: Help for a new UC

I will attempt to answer some of Jim Deroba's new questions. I will spare
you all the requoting... <g>

1. No charter should have gotten past either the UC or DE without an
Institutional Head listed on it. This cannot be and should've been caught.
Apparently, there's a flaw in the review process in your district.

2. I don't think there is a Cub Scout equivalent of the Boy Scout
requirements book. Unfortunately, I believe you will have to buy a copy of
the Wolf, Bear, and Webelos books.

4. Specific committee positions and job descriptions vary at the whim of
the unit. I have nothing written on job descriptions. Usually one could
expect a committee member in charge of advancement, fundraising,
transportation, with additional members in charge of specific events like
Pinewood Derby and Blue & Gold Dinner. Generally whatever works for the
pack is what should be done.

6. To my knowledge their is no equivalent to the Scoutmaster's Handbook for
Cub Scouters. At least I have never seen one. This surprises me and as a
new UC for a pack, I hope someone here will tell me I am wrong.

>One of my problems now is re familiarizing myself with the Cub Scout
>Program.
> It's been a long time.

Ditto!

John Pannell
