o break holds
and
deal with paniced swimmers. The Boy Scouts and the Red Cross differ in
their approach to swimming in general. I am also a lifesaving Merit
Badge councilor and I will miss the parries and protection for the
lifeguard if they are eliminated. While training, I make sure that each
boy has a proper challange to overcome. It would not do to raise a
generation of boys to say to the victim: please release me -- especially
when it is difficult to talk under water.
Incidently, I teach the best method is to go down under water as the
victim usually wants to go up. (For those reading and not being familar
with the Merit Badge.
