In our troop most of the Scout, Tenderfoot and Second Class skills are
taught by the older scouts. For example, the communications merit badge
requires that the scout prepare himself to teach a scout skill, teach it
and then evaluate the resuts of his teaching. It is not a problem to have
to teach one or two scouts but rather another opportunity for older scouts
to develop leadership skills and to reinforce their own mastery of the
skill in question.
