Those must be some really gold plated trips. Our normal weekend
camping trips (Friday night-Sunday afternoon) average about $12 plus
another $% for registration and patch if it is a council or district
event. Summer camp this summer will be $165, even though we will be
driving 550 miles to camp for a week in Canada. Some of our Venture
Crew outings, such as Whitewater rafting, might cost close to $100,
but we don't do them that often. We also charge $4 per month dues
from September through June to cover the cost of registration and Boys
Life.
All of our Scouts have troop accounts and we schedule numerous fund
raisers to help the boys pay for their outings. All of the profits
from each boys' sale of popcorn and Christmas wreaths are deposited in
their individual accounts. We also have hot dog sales in front of a
local building supply store one weekend a month from March until
October. The boys earn $3 per hour for their accounts when they work
the hot dog sale. Any profits above that go to the troop general
fund.
