Hi Eoghan
It occurs to me that in the haste of a nights dealing with an awful lot of
email and Scout Business (Preparing for a Winter competition Camp) I did not
properly sign myself. I amwith the 1st Southern Niagara Group, in Fort Erie,
Ontario, and we currently have Sea Scout, Sea Venturer and Sea Rover
Sections. Started off small but are expanding, with a full year round
program. We have close ties with the BSA Sea Scout Units in Buffalo, New
York, with whom we carry out quite a few joint programs including Long
Cruise and Inner City Sail Training.
We are completely Co-Ed, and for any who are still thinking about this, try
it out! The Girls bring a great extra dimension to Sea Scouting, and they
really put the Boys on their toes!!
As well as a full Sail program, and via our sponsor, a very large emphasis
on community service, we also carry out all of the Canadian land Scout
program. Thus the winter camp. Just got back, temperatures very moderate,
only got down to -35. Met two great BSA Troops from the William Penn State,
wish there had been more. For those Sea Scout Troops who have not tried
Winter Competition Camps in Canada, come up and get involved! It's great fun
and a real test of survival skills. Just you, a tarpaulin, some straw and
lots of snow.
Sorry to ramble, anyway my apologies, and does anyone have the receipe for
Egg Au Narural? ( Sorry Jeni, just joking, although I could not understand
the channel bit)
Rgds
Mike Walters
1st Southern Niagara Group
