For everyone's information:

SEAL Training is a course authorized by the BSA in 1996. Reference is made to
it in the Sea Scout Manual on page 3-10.

This is a week long leadership course taught as sea. The method used to teach
SEAL courses is as follows: As the name implied, this is a course designed to
develop leadership skills in young adults. Seamanship is the medium through
which this course is taught. This leadership skills course which utilized an
"at sea" experience as a laboratory, is intended to teach and apply leadership
skills immediately. Few other mediums offer this unique opportunity to young
people. Bad decisions or team failure can produce real consequences. The
management skills that are taught are Planning, Coordinating, Commanding,
Delegating, Preparing, Implementing, Training, Supervising, Motivating,
Problem-solving, Communicating, Counseling, Evaluating and Re-implementing.

The general method used to teach this course is to conduct a short, guided
,participatory discussion relating to the topic at hand. This dicussion will
be followed by an exercise relating to the topic. The exercies will be
followed by actual implementation of the subject matter. The Bosn for the day
will direct the crew in the implementation of the subject. This will be
followed by an evaluation of the performance by everyone who participated.

If you want additional information, please e mail me or write me and I will
send you some literature.

The courses scheduled for this summer are Miami cost $150. date July 10-17
Chesapeake Bay June 19-27 Cost $150. There is a course that may make in San
Diego. Costs are inclusive except for travel to the location. Where could you
cruise in the Florida Keys for a week for $150. or for that matter in the
beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
