Hi Roger and John
Thanks for your comments!
To the Birdseye Frozen Viking
I never cease to be amazed at little coincidences. You mention Yorkshire
and Danelaw. Dublin as a Norse state played a large part in the affairs of
the Vikings in England in the tenth century because its rulers had strong
dynastic interests in York. Perhaps one of your Viking ancestors may have
been related to an early King of Dublin!
To the Swamp Viking
I thought that comment would produce a reaction from someone!
Actually, after the first century of rape and pillage, the Vikings and
Irish settled down quite well together. On balance, I think that we had
rather more trouble with later invaders!
Yours in Sea Scouting
