Fellow Sea Scouters:
Well, we've figured out what is going on with Seascout-Net. The new
server looks at your email address and if it doesn't match the subscribers'
list, you are not allowed to post.
Several people informed us today that, although they are subscribed to
the list, the server prevented them from posting. The cause for this is
interesting. All subscribers' email addresses are currently stored on the
subscription list in lower-case letters. If, on the other hand, YOUR email
server communicates your email address with any upper-case letters, the
Seascout-Net server doesn't recognize you as a subscribe, thereby
preventing you from posting. This includes among others, all AOL subscribers.
We will attempt to manually edit the AOL addresses to reflect how we
understand them to be communicated. If anyone else experiences problems
with posting to Seascout-net (and they are in fact subscribers), please
forward the error message to <owner-seascout-net@seascout.org> and we will
take care of fixing your subscription.
We are working on a programmatic way to address this situation, but in
the meantime, this will fix the posting problem one-by-one. Thank you for
your patience. We'll get the bugs worked out shortly.
