To all those concerned!
Lets not quibble over the prose of old ! We are too small a crew to get
into squables over the rules of the road. Take courses and apply the knowledge
quietly. A VE in the USCGA is responsible only for meeting the requirements
of the auxilliary, not the Coast Guards. The aux standards exceed the federal
requirements. When boarded by a coastal patrol vessel, all that is checked is
the registration, flares, and PFD's aboard. Anything out of place is most
times found by the boarding officer . We take pride here in Hampton Roads that
no boats with the CME sticker has been cited illegal operations. Perhaps if
real sea time was applied we would not be given to infighting, but the
response was gratefully appreciated from those whom are sailors.
I invite all to take part in a 2 week cruise on the Chesapeake Bay this
summer (99) from Va Beach to the Naval Academy , to Saint Michaels and south.
