Invitations for the 16th annual Long Beach Invitational Regatta will be
in the mail soon. The date is March 13, 1999. If you haven=92t been to
this event before, It is a day that centers more on fun than serious
competition. The events are based on events form other Sea Scout
competitions and from requirements and basic knowledge learned through
ordinary. But then, some is just off the wall.

For example, does your crew know how to drill? What if they can=92t see
where they are going? For that matter, how about team pulling
blindfolded. What would happen to your Scuttlebutt time if you had to
fill the barrel first? Will your general knowledge or seamanship, and
scouting survive a game of Jeopardy?

These are things we=92ve done in the past and are not necessarily on this
year=92s schedule. The events are not released ahead of time. Just bring =
a
good sense of humor and be prepared to have a good time. Lunch is
provided.

If you have been to this event before and your mailing address has
changed, please let me know. If you have not been here or know a Ship
that hasn=92t and would like to participate, please send me the Ship name=
,
contact name, mailing address and phone number.

Let=92s make this the best-attended regatta ever.

YISS

Michael Maricle, Chairman
Long Beach Invitational Regatta.
