Hi Dan,

I was Roundtable Commissioner for three years. Announcements
were always left until the end of the meeting and were
organized as follows -- five 2-3 minute slots for the camping,
advancement, and training chairs, the dist commissioner, and
the dist exec, followed by anything else I thought of. Time
limits were strictly enforced so meetings ended on time.

I've always felt having announcements at the end was very
important. These are usually bits of key information that
most Scouters look forward to which brings them to the
meeting and keeps them there. Not mentioning them simply
because they are written in handouts does two disservices:
first, most information mentioned in announcements is
important and needs to be emphasized, not left for later
discovery; and second, announcing important things at
roundtables makes your roundtable important and improves
attendance. I regularly had two thirds of all troops in my
district at roundtables and every troop in the district
attended at least once a year.
